NICE! The avocado is new, might have to give that try sometime. Some of the best BLT's I ever made is when I used hotdog buns instead of bread.

There's actually a good chance this thread could equal the legendary "Babe Thread" from years back. I say "Equal" cause nothing will ever surpass it.

Makes for a good BLT don't it. Guacamole is also recommended on your BLT, real guacamole not that fake stuff in the dip section. What no other BLT lovers with a unique way to make one. If you don't have an avacado handy substitute buttermilk ranch dressing for mayo.

Haven't tried guacamole, sounds good though. I make mine with bacon, tomato, red onion, Claussen pickles, topped with sharp cheddar. No lettuce. A BTOPC I guess.

Those maters look great! IF you ever find yourself in Chapel Hill NC, go to Merritt's store and order their "World Famous BLT". Words don't describe it!

When my wife was alive, she saved the bacon drippings in a Mason jar stashed in the fridge. Used it to make her cornbread...flavor green beans, things like that. That gal was raised farming...never wasted anything that had a use. That cornbread was the best I ever tasted.

Oh stop Cathy, bacon grease is fine if your not guzzling it down like water every day. All these things that are supposedly bad for you are only bad when abused, like everything else in life. Plus your other eating habits, metabolism, exercise all play into how your body deals with it.

The only toasted sandwich I like better than a BLT is a traditional double-decker Club, finely honed from years in the restaurant business, cut in quarters of course (that's only way to make a real club IMO). I had planned to make some later today. I'll get photos....
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
