Interesting Aquisition

Friend of mine that I work with, told me he had a BF new Parasound 2100 Preamp sitting in a box at his house that he was going to hook up as part of his HT as a bypass to his mains, but he never did, saying he is satisfied with his HT pre pro. He had it for over a year and didn't think he could return it. I looked it up, and they go for about $570 new, and 3-400 used in good cond.

I have been waving $300 in cash in front of him for about a week now, and today he bit.

I was going to ebay it, but I printed a copy of the manual from the Parasound site, and started thinking that maybe this thing could solve a couple of issues for me.
1. I had no tone controls
2 no remote volume control
3 no bass management for my sub
4 not feasible to relocate sub to corner.(where IMO they sound the best)

So I cut the tape on the box not knowing if the above would work out, but gave it a shot.

I took my whole rig apart re wiring everything through the 2100:

I relocated the sub and connected to the pre's sub out connection.

Now i realize this pre is not anything super hi end, but I'm stunned by how much more detail this thing is bringing to my rig. And the bass management issue is resolved. I am not using the Phono Pre, just using that set of inputs as line level and using my Musical Surroundings.

It also dampens some of the tube noise actually it is quiet as SS.

Nice product... Nice deal... I don't need the tone controls, but I think I am just going to keep it... WTF
