I did the annual Mountain Bike ride up in Crosby Minnesota. The place once thrived with Iron Ore mining, once the Iron Ore mining went under the pits all filled with water beautiful country. The area built a Kick A$$ off road Mountain biking paradise, said to be the best in the upper Midwest lots of hills and flowing down hills lots of difficult trails. I have officially rode all the trails the past few years except for the elusive Screamer. I did it and survived lots of rough terrain straight down hill on narrow paths of loose shale and Iron Ore dust abound with a dozen berms on the right and left side. They say people have been flown out by helicopter, after not heeding caution. I have now got Boot Camp, The Bobsled, Little and Big Flow and several others under my belt, along with the dreaded Screamer. I thought I would share my tale of survival. Any MTB'ers out there in the upper Midwest need to check out the trails Crosby Minnesota has to offer.

I only ride Hardtails, the Full Suspension bikes give you to much confidence, a friend of ours got a concusion last year. I tend to be more careful on a Hardtail, and keep my left hand off of the front brake going downhill.

    AWESOME DUDE!!!!!

I haven't done anything like that on a mtn bike yet, but as a former ski instructor I have skied most of the West's toughest runs and it IS something to remember.

Good On You!!! It's cool when you share memories that aren't from when you were a lot younger. Maybe I'll post something like this if I run a big race here in Nov.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Well done, Steve! But, you're really makin' me feel like one lazy-assed SOB!

Do they have any beginner (bunny?) trails, or just the big-boy runs?

Looks like beautiful country out there.

Hey Terry Crosby is what next to Brainerd so its only about 3 hours north of you, if I would of had more time I would of called you to meet for lunch or something, I had the family truckster full of family, or I would of contacted you. We should get together sometime plenty of places up north, my parents own a couple of resorts up in the woods. To answer your question the trail called Bootcamp is semi beginner.
