Any thoughts on SME M2-9 tonearm?

I'm considering upgrading my Grace 707 tonearm. Once I had a SME 3009 Type III and really liked it. Stupidly sold it for peanuts when I went back to school in the mid-80's. I'm now considering a SME M2-9. Anybody have any opinions of this arm, or whether there would be other alternatives in the same price range that would be preferable? Thanks in advance for any opinions. BTW, I'll be running it with a S.A.E. 1000 cart (Coral 777) with a Soundsmith level III upgrade. Denon DP72L platter.

SME is a great company with long history. Hard to beat. I’ve seen their various arms used on Lenco’s and other tables with great results. Their new offering also has an optional fluid damper. An Enigma Lenco turntable (UK mfr) with SME M2-9.
Another great arm I’ve seen used on the Lenco’s and other tables is the hot rodded Rega RB250 by Audiomods in the UK. $1077US for micrometer VTA arm with continuous silver wired IC. Less $$ with less options and you can buy kits to DIY. Import duties may apply to raise cost.

This linear tracking air bearing arm has greatly elevated my system. I got mine used from a CP forum member. $599 new and $140 for entry level compressor, higher priced arm and compressor options available. You have to buy or build an expansion tank. I have moved with the same cartridge (Karat 17D3) with my tutntable, arms and phono stage upgrades so I have a more apples to apples comparison.
Crude compared to a Rockport but it gets you in the performance neighborhood. It beat my Moerch DP6 ($2900 in gold). Drawback is the compressor noise. I have mine in basement. Some put them in a closet.
