Copying CD program

I need help deciding what program to use to copy CDs. I need it to be simple. I would like the program to do the following:
-Record CDs without compression
-Record tracks from various CDs to make one CD
-If possible control silence space between tracks

I am not a computor person and like things straight forward. I have a Compact Presario 2700 laptop with added memory with a CD burner and DVD player.

Can anyone recommend how I can do this because the CDs that I have copied for the auto CD player suck, especially the highs.

Sorry for the stupid question.

I have the Roxio CD/DVD creater suite 6

I love the program. It does plenty, and it's dang easy to use. I'd take it over Nero anyday. To be honest I don't know how much it runs for, as I got my copy from my brother:eek:

Just a plug for Nero. I'm sure Roxio is nice, but I've used Nero for 2 years with few problems and I know you can do everythingn you want except not sure about compression. In Nero there is a "Wizard" option, that makes it damn easy to copy CDs.

Once I started using Nero I could never go back to the others. I think Nero may be a little more complicated at the begining but If I can figure it out anybody can. Nero has never let me down.

Just found out about EAC (Exact Audio Copy). It's at EAC and the price is cardware, just a postcard and stamp, yes that's it.

Roxio (formerly Adaptec) is good stuff, Nero works fine also.

I have both installed currently, but have been using Nero more lately.

What problem are you having with mp3's? Rip em to .wav, burn em, that's about it.

Not sure if this was directed at me or not, but I am trying to make a data CD full of music that I can take to work and listen to on my work PC. Mainly so I don't have to bring a bunch of CD's with me to work.

When burning audio CD's I only use wav files.

Don't burn an audio cd my friend.

.mp3 files are *data* files, burn the files to cd as you would any other data cd.

I've gotta burn audio CD's can't afford to buy new music all the time. If I REALLY like it I'll buy it. EAC does a pretty good job, reguarded as one of the best ripping programs out there... I'm guessing I get a pretty descent copy...

as for burning mp3's to a data disc, I know how to do that. I'm having problems getting EAC to rip songs to the mp3 format...
