Monitor 40 vs. Rt55I

I am trying to decide between a pair of 40's for $119 shipped or 55i's for $150. I intend to use them in my basement workshop, will be paired with a 50 wpc NAD 7000 (200 dynamic watts). I am thinking the 55is are a better choice but i've never heard them. I loved the 25i's i had, they were just a little too small for the space (800 square feet).

M40 isn't even a remotely close match for the RT-55i. The RT-55i is arguably one of Polk's finest bookshelves for the money.Main Surround -

You are thinking in the correct direction.
RT55i is much better choice.

This is a no brainer... RT55i is the way to go.

Just got my first pair of RT55's from a member on here. Having owned the Monitor 50's at one point, I have to agree with the consensus: Get the RT55i's. My 55's are the original, not the "i", and they are without a doubt one of the finest pair of speakers I've owned.Display: Sony 42" LCD

Thanks for all the responses. I will try to make the 120 mile round trip to get them soon. I am not asking for opinions if they are worth the $20 worth of gas, though.
