Pre-amp adantages?

Been doing some research lately and wondering what a 2ch. pre like the para 2100 would do for my system. I listen to a lot of music and the HT bypass seems like a plus. All my content however comes out of the Onk: my FLAC file Hard drive is connected to it, of course all music and HDMI come through it as well. Will this make a difference or limit what a Pre will do? Is it a worthy upgrade with all that I already have listed below?? What are y'alls thoughts?
AVR - Onkyo NR809
