sda1 problem

well i got the new amp hooked up and my left speaker makes a major distorted sound when interconnect is hooked up......it is the speaker cause i tested and eliminated all cables ,amp and pre amp. any clues??? i figure something in the crossover/sda stuff is gone kaput. when i disconnect the interconnect all is well, help...i need all my drivers to really try out this amp.

Make SURE your amp is of the common ground variety. This can raise holy hell if it is not. Some dual mono amps are not common ground.

the amp is a yamaha m 70 from the 80's...175 wpc. i dont think it is a dual mono design. although i havent tried to hook the sda's up to just my hk receiver with the interconnect in place and see if i get the same awful sound. i appreciate the feedback guys-thanks!

Man you have had a time with those SDA's, keep working at it they are some cool speakers.

Take the PR off and look at the crossover and all the connections and wires see if any are loose or off, if these where shipped to you something may be unconnected or causing a short. I have received a pair with some wires crossing and touching.

confirmed amp has only 1 power supply. last night had one side playing higher level on amp and figured out the hk receiver needed the microprocessor reset (nifty feature) , reading the manual saved me from dousing the whole damned set up and throwing a match to it....tore left sda apart last night and will disect the right one tonight...also will try interconnect hooked up with power from receiver instead of amp , if that doesnt work my local audio technician will be seeing my sda's. it really sucks getting a new toy and everything going to hell , my girlfriend says i need therapy. i say i need more gear to satisfy my insatiable need for stuff with lights and remotes and woofers and tweeters. oh-my nikko amp is on its way , had to get it shipped from dallas as my buddy cancelled his trip to austin. i will say that last night i put on a "los super seven" cd and it sounded awesome even without the disconnect , john coltrane sounded even better. well i am off to disect the right speaker and fumble with wires.....adios!and thanks for the support!!
