I picked up Carol King music sacd. Not sure if it is because sacd shows the limitations of the master or what but I never noticed how much distortion is in some of her vocals! Kind of funny, I told my wife its amazing that we listen to a sacd played on a tube sacd player to enjoy something that was made in 71.

Anyway I need to pull the lp out to see if the distortion is on it also or if its just the sacd. Anyone else have the sacd to confirm?

The redbook version sounds like everything above 10-12Khz is turned down on the master. Don't think MF had alot to work with. She also has a nasally voice so she'll never sound great, no matter how good the recording.

Having said all that, Tapestry is one of my all time favorites. She's one h#ll of a songwriter who also surrounded herself with top musicians.

The LP has the same distortion. The sacd does sound better. Tapestry is also one of my faves as well as Live at the Troubadour with James Taylor. Now Tapestry sound quality on the LP sounds much better vs music.
