My wife and I will be flying into Seattle WA Sept 5 before we leave on an Alaskan cruise Sept 7. My wife wants to stay downtown Seattle so we can walk around and look at stuff. I hate to walk around looking at stuff but ......

Anyways looking for recommendations of a great place to stay a few nights and stuff to walk around and look at.

The experience music project in the Seattle center is cool. The guitar room is worth the trip for me and I don't play guitar. I'll ask the wife about places to stay. She works downtown and deals with visitors that need to stay downtown for business. What's fun for you?

Thanks guys. Edgewater looks nice and at their price parking better be included. As long as the wife is happy I do not care where we stay. This trip is for her. She packed up and moved to KS with me last year, further away from our boys and grandkids as well as her parents so its all about her. SHe lost her 20 year old cat last week so she is having a tough time.

Sounds like Pike place is on the agenda. She has a cousin in Arlington and my brother and his family live in Bremerton so we will not be downtown the entire time.

Bikerboy what says your wife ?

I strongly recommend AirBnB to you.

A web based "matching" service that puts people who are looking for places to stay together with people who can offer housing.

I've used it both as a traveler and as a host a few times. The last guests my wife and I had in our home were to guys from Austria starting at the University of Illinois. They had just arrived in from NYC where through AirBnB they got a 23rd floor Battery Park apartment with a view of the new World Trade Center for $100/night.

    It's pretty amazing.

The wife said the Sorrento is nice. Great restaurant. The Inn at the market and Pensione Nichols BB also. Make sure you eat lots of Dungeness crab as it is fresh now. Its the best! If the pink salmon are running through the Locks that is a fun thing to see. The sculpture park on the waterfront is a nice walk and a nice view of the harbor. If you can go out to Magnolia the view is much better. Have a great time on the cruise. We have wanted to make that trip and will someday soon.

no problem. I used to go up to Seattle every month or so. If you get a chance to get out of the tours areas and get to some of the neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Ballard, and Queen Ann, you get to see a little bit more of the soul of the city.

I recommend this spot as well.
