I am taking receipt of these bad boys today, picking them up and am looking forward to digging into them. I already have my plan of action in mind and I hope to walk away with a "bolt in modification"!

Anyone else cracked these open yet?

Love the quality of the drivers. Best I've seen from Polk yet.

It seemed to me that Polk Audio was really interested in getting user feedback AND implementing the feedback into the new lineup of speakers. Now I'll be the first to admit, I may be way off base here but I do notice that some [correction, a lot of...] the feedback that was given at Polkfest and subsequent meetings at Polk HQ were actually implemented within this particular speaker lineup. I have yet to hear them and perhaps I will at Trey's [VR3] in the coming days but from all of the feedback since the launch? It looks like Polk Audio did very well with this lineup.

I'd like to thank those who worked....er, uh, rather volunteered to offer feedback to the Polk designers/engineers/marketing behind the scenes. Whether or not we had anything to do with the final product or not, the end result speaks volumes and hopefully puts Polk back on the map for some excellent sound at a certain price point [which was their ultimate goal].

Hopefully I can get my ears on the pair Trey picked up before he tears them apart and offer my own observations. *prays*

VR3 let me know what you come up with as far as mods and if it made a difference. Since mine aren't selling figure I'd get them modded.

    Tom,
If you are lucky I will just bring them to your house tomorrow and we will drink beer and listen to music hahahah!

I am going to perhaps modify these so you can swap stock and modified crossovers and bring them to Polkfest! :)

Will keep this thread posted, I am looking to make this an upper tier modification, cap/resistor/inductor swap, point to point, Delrin substrate, a full bore Monastery! :)

You have no idea how many times I came within an inch of pulling the trigger on your x-over mod for my LSi15s. I held off because I bought them so cheap ($600) that I kept thinking if I did it, I'd never upgrade to the LSiM.

With my new LSiM705's on the truck enroute to my home, I'm really looking forward to you getting these done.

    Thread bookmarked!

I like them pretty well so far. I figure I will break them in the next week and mess around with the best way to remove those gaskets around the woofers in the correct manner..

I am not big into reviews anymore but I can tell you they are walking into a room that once held extremely big shoes (Super Towers).

I will have modified LSi9 here in the house in the next week (customers) and I will do a small shoot out with the LSiM705 versus the LSi9 Fortress modded, that will be fun! :)

    Plastic spoon.

The gasket around the tweeter/mid assembly is tricky because there is adhesive. The gaskets around the woofers come out much easier because there is no adhesive. Don't be scared of hurting the rubber; it's very robust, just be careful not to scratch the wood, hence the plastic spoon.

You just want to pry them up at one spot and then pull from there.

    Thank you for that tip!

I like the "bag" they come in, I think I will keep them on the speakers when not in use! :)

Yeah they definitely have a "stock" inexpensive parts sound to their overall signature, a lot of compression. To those reading do not take that as a knock, the LSiM705 sounds -FANTASTIC- but it is not perfect.
