Monitor 7 series & tweeter dome question
I just picked up a pair of monitor 7's from the original owner. They sound really good, although the cabinets are a little rough and there are no grills for them. My question revolves around what version of the monitor 7 I have. I pulled a tweeter, and it's a SL2000 made on Feb 25 1986. There's also a stamp on the tweeter of March 10, 1986. The serial numbers on the cabinets are 7 23966 and 7 23968.
I believe these can only be Monitor 7C's made in 1986 because of the SL2000's. Can anyone confirm?
Secondly, one of the tweeter's plastic domes has a dent. I removed the allen bolts and seperated the actual tweeter from the cover that has the plastic dome attached, and the tweeter itself looks fine. I'm attaching a couple of photos. Does the dent hurt anything sonically? When a replacement speaker is ordered from Polk, does this cover + dome come with the tweeter? When a tweeter is bought/sold on this group, does the seller normally include the cover with the dome or just the tweeter? I appreciate all the advice.
thanks
Chris
