I realize this tread probably won't last long before it's deleted, but please bear with me for a minute. I started a thread earlier about "selling" in this section that's against the rules (I get that, and have no problem with it's deletion), but I can't even read the rules or access the proper section without 100 posts? What gives? I'm a newbie (with this ID), but used to hang around here more than a decade ago and was just looking to some enthusiasts for some advice. I apologize, and will move on...didn't expect that kind of response.

Here you go....Selling Guidelines / Rules of Reply
First, a little disclaimer about the buying / selling process: Polk Audio is not responsible for any of the sales that go in within these areas. All sales are at your own risk.
Do your research about an individual before buying anything. Check to see if they have positive feedback. Click "Member Sales Rating" under their name to view seller ratings.
VERY IMPORTANT...
If you are not at all interested in buying an item that someone is selling, DO NOT post a reply. All violators of this rule will be banned from this section of the site.
This is NOT an auction site (like ebay, Audiogon, etc.) so if you are looking for secret "bids" your item will be removed.
This is a private area for Polk owners to sell speakers and equipment to other members of the "Polk Community". This is not a place to make BIG BUCKS. Please follow the guidelines for posting a new "For Sale" item. All members should respect those selling on this site and follow the "Rules of Reply". Any violation will be removed and you will no longer be able to post in the "Flea Market".
Just to be clear: Anyone who breaks the "Rules of Reply" of this forum will be banned from the Flea Market.
Selling Guidelines
Note: Besides #1 & #2, the rest of these are just guidelines to make the sale easier.
You must have a total post count of 100 (contribute to the other parts of the forum) before you can sell anything in the "For Sale (FS) Classifieds" or "Garage Sale" forums.
List a price you wish to sell the item (include shipping costs). All members asking for secret bids (like ebay) will have their items removed.
A price + OBO (or best offer) is OK. Please handle "best offers" through private messages.
Post pictures of equipment with manual cords, etc..
Give approximate age of item you are selling.
State whether you are original owner.
State condition of equipment (be honest if there is damage).
Once the sale is complete, please post "SOLD" at the beginning or end of your thread.
Rules of Reply
DO NOT post a reply unless you are interested in purchasing the item
The seller has the right to ask any price he wants. If you don't like it, don't post a reply and the thread will die by itself, or make a "best offer" through a private message.
If you are interested, you may ask any question that is unclear from the original post
ALL price "negotiation" (shipping costs, trades, best offers, deals, WHATEVER) MUST be handle through private messages
If you are NOT interested in buying the product, DON'T reply to the post or you will be banned from the Flea Market (just making sure you got that part)Political Correctness'.........defined

Keith-
Don't move on, and welcome back to CP. The rules have to be accessible somewhere without going into the for sale section. I wasn't trying to be harsh in the other thread, just giving you a heads up. Basically the for sale section is a courtesy reserved for those who are contributing to the forum. The 100 post rule was created to prevent fly by night guys coming in and trying to unload gear without really caring if the purchaser got a got piece of gear that was in good condition or at least as advertised. Stick around awhile and we might talk you into emptying your wallet a few times to upgrade them and turn them into speakers you'll never part with.
Again if you need pricing info, it's avail thru looking at past sales on ebay, or audigon and other sites. Best of luck.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer. -

Many for sale threads were posted in this 'vintage speakers' section by new members as there is nothing in this section that says not to and since they can't go to for sale forums to read the rules, it'll continue to happen.
May be we need a sticky that says not to post any 'For Sale' threads here.

Thanks F1nut! I'm really not interested in accumulating 100 posts (with this ID) so I'll move on. Do you know if Russ Abernathy is still around? I did a quick search and didn't see any indication of it. To be clear, I'm an enthusiast...just haven't on this forum in over ten years.

Thank you very much! I did happen to see the two posts (one was yours) before that other thread was deleted so I did have an inkling of what happened to it . I actually did a quick search of Audiogon (nothing) and I just don't do Ebay anymore AT ALL after being scammed on a Carver amp (I got my money back though)....
Keith -
Actually you are right and this has happened many times as there is no rule mentioned here not to sell in this section.

Russ is still around, although he hasn't been very active lately.Political Correctness'.........defined

There are a number of issues here that need to be fixed, but for right now Polk doesn't seem too interested in resolving them.Political Correctness'.........defined

I've done a bit of searching online (Audiogon, Ebay, etc.) and am finding virtually nothing regarding vintage SDAs, etc. so is there any way to get an exemption from the 100 post rule before VIEWING (not posting in) the For Sale section of this forum? How do I connect with others on this site who may be in the same position I was many years ago (looking for a pair of 1.2s). I gained a lot of knowledge from this place back then, and also located some from here. I'd like to be able to locate someone in similar fashion but don't know the best way to go about it. I've never sold any audio equipment before but am pretty sure someone using this site might be interested. I welcome suggestions...thanks!
Keith
ps: Thanks F1 for the tip about Russ...if anyone knows how I can contact him I would appreciate it. (I have two pair of SDAs, both acquired from Russ many years ago). I figure he can set me straight on values, etc. if I can contact him. I do appreciate it! -
Hey this sounds like Chinese baseball. You hit the ball and the fielders run with the bases.
Also sounds like politics in a way.

Welcome back Keith! No need to leave or move on. I know the search function here is a wee bit squirrelly. Best way to search is go to Google and try something like 'SDA's on Polk Audio forum'. There is a ton of stuff on SDA's hear outside the for sale sections.--Gary--

Welcome back Keith, stick around, you'll appreciate the 100 post count rule after you've been here for awhile and contributed some help to other new members in their journey.

Honestly, gaining access to the FM isn't going to help you at this time. Checking past sales on eBay will.Political Correctness'.........defined

Ha, ha, ha...I've been on the forum longer than all you blabbermouths....post #11 and counting....

OK, now I'm just jacking up my post count. Can I get credit for 10 posts/per year or something? By the time I make it to 100 posts I'll be like....150 or something

Just looked at all of my old posts (10)...though I hung out here for a couple of years I was mostly a lurker....I still qualify for this old thread ten years later . But I still love my Polks (that I describe in that thread)...It was a heckuva setup for over a decade but now I'm downsizing. That was a trip reading those old threads...

I've received a few PMs on both of my logon IDs with extremely helpful info. I DID come to the right place after all...I thank you again for your assistance....maybe I'll lurk around some more too!
