The Polk cabinets are FUBAR, the drivers look good.
The STAX is in mint condish.
First person to pick them up in Champaign, IL, gets them gratis. That's not the first person to say they'll pick them up, that's the first person to get them out of my garage.
Sorry, but I don't have time to pack n ship.
If they're not gone in a week they go in the trash.
Karma.

I agree, even better Karma: Pull the drivers, crossovers, and grills off and then when somebody needs one of them they can pay for shipping plus a few dollars for your time to pack them up. You could end up saving multiple pairs of vintage Polks this way.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I've got way too much electronic and camera gear squirreled away here.
I'm finally slowly but surely getting rid of the dross.
Taking them apart and putting the pieces back in another space in the house only keeps things cluttered up and keeps one more item on my plate when I'm trying to clear the table.
Hope someone who might want to hold onto the stuff steps up to the plate soon.“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

I wish I was closer, I'd certainly pick them up for the reasons outlined above. Somebody grab these, perfectly good vintage Polk drivers don't belong in the trash!afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

pull the drivers and crossovers, tweets, and passives and then ship to the Polkfest location in N. Charleston. TroyD's if he would accept it and karma it off during polk fest. I'm sure a few on here would help with the shipping cost if that is the issue. I'll throw in $10 towards shipping if you do something like that.
Anyone else game for this?2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer. -
Damn, you guys make it hard to even give something away.
But I guess I'm in a good mood because of those half price 705's that are en route from Polk.
All the innards are now outtards and everything looks copasetic excepting a partially collapsed tweeter dome.
One is packed up and the other would be excepting I ran out of tape.
Someone with some carpentry skills is going to get a nice pair of 10B's. I just want pictures once they're up and playing again. Theese were my first serious speakers, purchased back in '88.“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

UPDATE -
Now that these are out of the cabinets I've reconsidered.
I'm going to need to sell my SB840 subs (new in sealed box) once the 705's get here.
So I'm going to hold onto these 10b components and the STAX and toss them in with the subs in order to move the subs quickly.
