Realize this isn't audio but would like some help with a wire question?

Trying to repair my daughters hair straightener and need some help trying to figure out what type of wire to use. It does not appear to be copper and it appears to have a coating that is not a standard plastic. Thought it may be something hear resistant. Also as shown in one of the picture where the wire are connected together the "shrink" wrap is different than what I have seen before. Have tried searching the net but most of the stuff I have found is related to replace the power cord not the internal wires. Realize I could just buy another one but what fun would that be. Any suggestion on the wire and connecters?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Ditto on nooshinjohn's advice.
I tried to repair wires in one of my daughter's straightening irons. Although she did not "torch" her hair with it, it never quite did the job. They don't make these kinds of devices to be repaired. But then, I'm not an expert with these kinds of repairs.

I have been trying all day you to use an old pair of jumper cable I have to repair this thing but I just cant figure how to fit all of it back into the small space of the straightener.
I figure I will have to buy her a new one but I shelled out so much for this one (because I thought it would last more than one year) that just out of sheer principle I want to try fixin it. And by chance I do figure out how to fix it I will than have something to straighten my chest and back hair. -
Try some Teflon coated copper wire. Usually you can find mil-spec on the internet. Teflon is heat resistant to a very high temperature, several hundred degrees."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer
