I am getting back into vinyl and am starting to put together an album collection again and would like to protect them as best as I can.
What is recommended for outer sleeves (plastic) to protect the album cover?
What is recommended for inner sleeves (paper? plastic?) to protect vinyl?
I have been doing some online research but thought I'd check with Polkie vinyl enthusiasts because this site has always given me the most knowledge and the best advice.
Thanks.

The Mofi inner sleeves are very nice, and used by many around here. I'm actually going to tune in to your thread to see what people like for outer sleeves, as I'm less than crazy about the ones I've been using.Jay

I use the pvc inner line sleeves the anti static ones, and the pvc outter ones to protect the album covers. You can find these on line amazon has a good selection. I remember the real record stores would give you a outter sleeve every time you would buy an LP from them. Over in Germany you could listen to an album before you bought it sit at a round table with headphones order up a beer. When you bought an album ( they were not shrink wrapped over there) you would get a complimentary inner and outter sleeve, the store over there was called Musikuss.Home Theater

Welcome back.
Like Jay, MoFi is a preferred favorite for record sleeves.
Jacket sleeve, I like no less than 3 mil minimum thickness polyethylene. Bags Unlimited is a good source. They sell both type of poly sleeves, polyethylene and polypropylene.
The best archive type are Japanese resealable sleeves.
Some reading about poly sleeves.

I use theirs. For the outer I use the 5 mil sleeves which are nice and clear, and for the inner I use their Diskkeeper audiophile sleeves. Their outer sleeves are sized so they can take a double gatefold LP fairly easily without splitting the seam on the sleeve. Their inner sleeves aren't really less expensive than the Mobile Fidelity type, but they are a bit thicker and don't tend to fold corners as easily going into a jacket. Actually, since I started using the outer sleeves I just put the inner sleeve behind the album cover in the outer sleeve rather than reinserting it in the cover.

They are also available to be shipped by Amazon, but the prices are a bit higher than ordering directly from Sleevecity. I usually order from Amazon because of free shipping from there. Comes out a bit cheaper that way.
