I apologize in advance but I've used the search function and can't find the threads on dynamat.

I found plenty on suggesting the mod but none with pics of completed ( must be cause I'm a noob). Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also I thought I ran across a thread about sealing the inside of the cabinets. Something about caulk or liquid nails and another about someone coating the whole inside with some kind of sealant?

Oh I should bookmark more often!

Thanks for any help

I just did my sda 2.3's with it. Its made by Loctite and is called Power Grab exterior construction adhesive. It kinda goes on white but dries clear. Home Depot looking at the reciept it was 4.57 per tube. I bought 2 only needed 1. Used my finger mostly as the gun is a little large in the tight spots. In mho this is a no brainer took about an hour for both. Have fun!

+1 Power Grab is what I used too. It has no VOC's, so it doesn't outgas stuff that could harm your speakers or Xover components as it dries.

I just did mine also a few days ago.Thread title from Worm to Monarch butterfly w/ pix of pulled drivers and passives w/ Dynamat Extreme completed and you might notice I marked each speaker w/ painters tape and marked polarity just in case I covered the red dot for+.Also my gaskets were beat so someone suggested the product Armacell of which I bought but the wrong style. You want the flat roll stuff so you use the speakers as template and whittle it down from there w/ an exacto knife or a good razor knife.I also did some minor floor deadening w/ some matting I found in the house and siliconed to the bottoms ,weighed them down till dry then replaced all.

Drumminman, I just read your sig and i do grasp of most of what's on there except the AI-1 interface x-former.I was going to start another thread but you probably had enough of me this week so I will toss it out here. What I need is a complete glossary of Polk Product speech.Like TLwhat's that stand for and all the mods and models w/ #s and decimal points. Someone w/ time on there hands should be able to do this ,otherwise I find it hard to have a decent conversation if I don't know what heck people are talking about.

Are you saying you added some sort of material to the bottom of the cabinets?

Go the the VR3 Mods web site and download the SDA manual DarqueKnight put together/authored. It is a comprehensive guide that will likely answer all your questions.

Drumminman, I just read your sig and i do grasp of most of what's on there except the AI-1 interface x-former.

The AI-1 Interface aka the Dreadnought is a mod pioneered by Darqueknight for use with non common ground amps e.g. dual monos. It also provides a nice improvement in sound quality with common ground amps.

His initial build is documented here:

    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?74472-The-AI-1-Dreadnought-Project-Pt.1

Then he upgraded that with a new improved version which you can read about here:

    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?129829-The-AI-1-Dreadnought-Project-Pt.2-Upgrade-to-1000VA-Transformer

I've built both to use with my common ground power amp, and they're worthwhile additions, no question.

As for terminology that gets thrown around here do a search or ask questions - that's what I do. It's kinda like learning a foreign language - maybe we could get Rosetta Stone to do a Vintage Polk series

I want to second drumminman's endorsement of the Dreadnought with both non-common-ground and common-ground amps. I use one of mine with a pair of monoblocks (not common ground) and a two-channel amp (common ground). The sound is better in the latter with the Dreadnought in place of the standard SDA interconnect cable, and, of course, the Dreadnought is necessary in the system with the monoblocks.
