You folks on the East coast have it made!! I swear there are are more decent speakers (used that is) out your way than anywhere else. Must have something to do with population density.

I'm surprised someone didn't buy them already!!

Hopefully something like that will open up in the KC area. I really do want a pair of ribbons someday.

A lot Frank. If he doesn't have the original boxes, it's a real roll of the dice. Mine were shipped directly from Carver in the original boxes, and Roadway still managed to dick up one of the ribbons. Waiting three weeks for the new ribbon was painful. Minimum 200 lbs, going across country. You'll find a pair within driving distance sooner or later, this way you can handle them the way they SHOULD be handled.

Maybe $250 freight plus the guy would have to crate them up and that takes a little know how and time. With the right seller I think you could get them there for $300

So how does $750 compare with going prices on these? Anything special to look for when looking at them?

The price is about par, but I've seen them go for much more on eBay. Listen to the ribbons for buzzing. Sometimes the buzz can be fixed by tightening the bolts on the ribbon case, worst case you can have them replaced for $650.00 the pair.

    Hey Chuckles,

I'd definitely look to make sure there was two of them. How else can I help? I'm here to serve mon!

Seriously, if you do decide to buy them Chuck, DO NOT transport them laying on their sides. It is tempting to do that, but the magnets that keep the ribbons taut are prone to "rolling" 90 degrees in that fashion. Transport them on their backs, with a shitload of padding underneath. If they arrive here at my house safely, there'll be a little something extra in your paycheck next week.

    Max,
Your closer, I'm not going to get em...they're all yours.

    Jesse,
Thanks anyway, makes more sense for max or someone else closer to the seller to get em and not pay the freight.

    Frank,
Nothing has shown up yet. Maybe try again?

I've made an appointment to go look at them but that shouldn't stop you guys because chances are that I will wallk away unless they REALLY blow up my skirt. It won't bother me if someone does the BIN right now. (I'm feeling a little short of funds these days anyway).

I really want a pair, but I really ned to hold off untill I find a pair closer to home. The shipping cost and risk is just too much for me.

You go, no, you go, no, you go...

I'll look them over and make sure they are of good quality. If I like the sound and think they will work in my room I'll make an offer (which he may not accept anyway), if I don't care for the sound or think they are too big I will report on their condition. How about that?

    Hey guys,
I won the bid on the Amazings. I'm such a freakin' idiot though. I go and look at them and they are absolutely brand new. No marks, never really played, have been sitting in the same spot since the store delivered them. Absolutely perfect. I decide they are easily worth about $1000. I have my chance to do the BIN for $750 but I don't have the cash laying around so I put in my bid for $600. Well, in the mean time I sell some more LSi's so cash isn't really a concern and at the last minute I throw in a $1000 bid just in case. With only a minute left the price goes up. First $900 then $1000. SOLD for $1000 to the looser who wouldn't use the $750 BIN!!! I'm sure the seller is scratching his head wondering why I would want to pay $1000 rather than $750. I'll pick them up as soon as the temperature goes up a few degrees. I think they are worth the price but I'm still kicking myself for not using the BIN. At least the seller is a REALLY nice guy so I don't mind so much.

You are not the only one sobbing uncontrollably... I was brought up better than to make a deal like that! :D

Worst case is that I won't like them in my room. I DO know how to pack stuff for a long shipping distance. I made the nice gesture of offering to keep the guy's email on file (the guy who bid it up) in case I decided to sell them and the **** didn't even reply. I'm guessing he saw them in person or at least talked to the seller. Seriously, these things look like they came out of the box 10 minutes ago. The guy only used 200 watts with them and lived in a townhouse where he couldn't turn them up if he wanted to. In the end I decided I would never find an equal pair in my area. Somebody please slap me for spending $250 more than I had to though... Damn.

    Chuck,

I quess you couldn't wait any longer for me to restore mine. Hell, at the rate I'm going I'll probably hear yours before I'm finished with mine...lol.

You might as well check out the Carver forum now that you own the Amazings, www.carveraudio.com.

I've had my share of deals, that's for sure. I guess it was time to share some profit with a seller for a change. The funny thing was that he assumed they were of little value because they were not new. I'm sure he is happy with the deal! Even at the $1000 I'm still happy I got them.
