I just called Polk C/S to see what the procedure was for ordering the tweeters.I thought they were the rdo 198s and he said for 2bs they are Rdo-194s. In any event the rumor that they are on back order is absolutely true. They have neither in stock till late Oct at the earliest.I asked why such a backlog and he said they are a very popular drop in replacement. For me this actually good news so now I can save some cash and know they are not there yet anyway.

Only if you do the TL mod would you install the RD-0198's.SDA SRS 2.3TL's
Silk Audio MS-90-BT integrated tube amp
Yaqin MS-20L integrated tube amp
SDA 2B TL's -
Just so this is clear: the drop in replacement for the sl2000 tweeter (the original tweeter in the SDA 2Bs) is the RDO194 tweeter.
The drop in replacement for sl2500 and sl3000 is the RDO198.
As MJ2 points out, if you do the TL crossover mod (highly recommended), you will need to use RDO198. -
BigDAWG ,and others thanks for clearing this up for me. 194s it is for me.I have also been in touch w/ VR-3Mods and the way I'm going I don't believe any mention of the TL.I'm doing x-over and coil inductors, but if there is any confusion they said through e-mail they would answer any ? at any time. So far the response has been swift and very efficient.Clearly I want to get the right tweeters which will be first on my wish list and since neither are in stock I do have alot of time to dish it all out.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

That's good to know. Going to need a pair for the Monitor 7s I recently picked up. In the meantime, and not to steal this thread; I noticed that the copper leads on my existing SL-2000 are exposed--in other words the silicon (or whatever that black gooey stuff is) that is dabbed across the plastic mount in the space the copper wire reaches to the plastic dome is gone on both sides of ONE tweeter.
Somehow the thin copper wires are fine and shiny but I'm a little nervous about leaving them with nothing covering them. And I'm not sure how the coating could drop off without taking the copper wire with it but that's what happened.
So "what" do I fill that space with? Home Depot silicon? Or....?
And how do I get it to look "black"?

Steal away , I got my answer ,yes there is G.E. black silicon and it comes w/ an applicator tip if you cut it just right you can use as little as possible.I am in no way saying to do this just talking about the silicon it'self.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Your typical RTV silicone (i.e. GE black silicone) is an acetic acid cure, which is corrosive to electronics. Do NOT use it.Political Correctness'.........defined

Oh, good catch.
Glad I checked back on this. I certainly don't want to take something out!
Any suggestions on where to get a less corrosive silicon?
Thanks,

Not off the top of my head. Maybe call Polk to check if anyone there knows what they used.Political Correctness'.........defined

I have seen black water-based caulking that looks like it might work well. My fear however is that it would not be as flexible as the rtv types. The Gear... SEE, I'm glad I added my proviso for that one.Maybe go old school like they did w/ AR-3a and just put black tape across it. Great speaker but the ugliest grill off speaker besides a Dalquist out there.Again just kidding here do not take advice from me.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

They do show up from time to time here, just move fast... -
Found this with a quick google:
http://www.americansealantsinc.com/asi-306-electronic-grade-silicone-sealant-adhesive/
The copy states: "No acetic acid or other corrosive by-products are generated during its cure. Thus ASI 306 can be used in corrosion-sensitive electrical and/or electronic equipment with no adverse effect.""Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
Fast moves I can't do just don't have ready cash. I gots to do my way and start saving I have at least quite a few months before they are even in stock and as long as my originals hold out I'll be fine till then.I do appreciate the heads up and another alternative, really I do.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
