Are these two speakers the same or are they different? If so, what are the differences and which do you prefer (assuming you would have a preference)?

Thanks!

They are different - but, the difference is subtle.
The biggest difference is that the series 2 uses the SL2500 tweeter whereas the Series Polk 10B uses the SL2000 tweeter.
The SL2000 tweeter is better. Another difference is in the crossover construction. The Polk 10A and 10B utilize a Polk-style air-core inductor, etc.... whereas the series 2 uses a more conventional solid-state-like crossover.

I own the Model 10 series 2 and it is a fine speaker. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and it ROCKS. I would, however, prefer the model 10B. But, I wouldn't prefer it so much as to want to sell mine and acquire another set.

Again, for most purposes, the biggest difference is in the clarity of the tweeter. The SL2500 just doesn't sound as good - not that it sounds at all bad though.

    FYI
