I just got my Peachtree Nova hooked up and really like it so far. It comes with a cheap $12 russian 6922EH tube in the preamp stage. I was thinking about replacing it as I know a lot of people have done, and don't know where to start. I know it's the same as the e88cc there are quite a few options which really vary in price. Would buying one in the $20-$50 price range even be beneficial? It seems like it'd have to be better the stock one but i'm clueless when it comes to this, I was looking at the Tesla gold pin 6922 or Genalex Gold Lion? Thanks for the help.

Or if anyone has one laying around they're not using let me know, i'd much rather buy from someone here. I'm blown away with how great the Nova sounds out of the box and don't see it going anywhere anytime soon so I figured its worth a shot.

Never heard the Peachtree Nova, but depending on how much the tube affects the audio I highly recommend a better 6922 (or variant). As I said, this is assuming the tube has a big effect on the audio. If it does, I would recommend something like an Amperex 7308 for great bass and a warmer tone with a smooth, very very slightly rolled of high end. Or, I would recommend an early 1960's gray shield Siemens 6922 for more detailed, neutral and sparkley high end. There are of course a million others to choose from, but of the two you were looking at I would choose the Tesla E88CC's (IMO).

I know I have a bunch of 6922's, but need to see what kinds and how many I have of each. Actually, thinking about it, I may a single Amperex 7308, but need to see which version. I'll let you know if you are interested.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Yeah i'd be interested if you have anything laying around, just let me know the price. Based on your description I think i'd prefer a more sparkly detailed high end than warm and rolled off I think. It doesn't make a huge difference but it is noticeable turned on and has a more full bodied warmer sound, but I feel like it also gets a little fuzzy and gives us some detail. Im sure it's due to the crappy tube that comes with it and anything would be an improvement. Thanks for the advice and let me know if you have anything you want to get rid of.
