Look like 10s to me,price is a little high if one tweeter is bad.

They look like Monitor 10's with replacement RDO's
$125 + $50 for replacing the blown tweeter = $175. Pretty fair price.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Steve, those look like Black Monitor 10s with the RDO replacement tweeters OR Monitor 10 Series 2s with the SL-2500 tweeters. Either tweeter is thought by most here to be an upgrade from the SL-2000 tweeters. My guess is that they're the Series 2s since the seller doesn't mention anything about any upgrades done and if they'd had the tweets upgraded to the RDOs, he'd more than likely be aware of it.
If all the drivers work, other than the one mentioned tweeter, and the cabinets and grilles are in stellar shape, then they're easily worth the $125. However, that's not to say that you shouldn't/couldn't try to get them for less.
Seeing as how I think the Monitor 10s are about the easiest listening speaker I've ever owned, I think they're definitely worth checking out.
Good luck. Do let us know what happens. -
Those are Monitor 10B's series II. The black cabs and SL2500 tweeter are the identifying characteristics. The series II was the last iteration of the original Monitor series. $125 is about right for a minty pair. Offer $75 and meet in the middle at $100 and take them home. Unless they have issues.
You can tell the sl2500 by the foam ring around the outside of the dome between it and the bezel. Black cabs were offered with all Series II monitor models. I'm sure that's what they are.

Keep in mind he most likely will have to change both tweets with RD0's unless he can find a used sl2500. If he just replaces one with an RD0 they won't sound quite right.

Yep, Series II's. Same as my Monitor 12's. I also have a pair of Monitor 5 Series II. They even had those same SL25000 tweets. The 5's have the speaker clips on the back instead of the binding posts. I've never came across a pair of 10's like that though. If they were local to me, I'd buy 'em at $100 for sure. The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits. -Albert Einstein

I left a message hope to hear back from him. So is it easy to find a SL2500 or just easier to get a pair of Rdo's?Home Theater

I'd just go ahead with the RDOs. The 2500s show up on that auction site from time-to-time (not as consistently as the SL-2000s) and you'd probably pay about $35 to get it to your door. Alternatively, you'd spend about $75 ($100 to Polk minus $25 netted for your one good SL-2500) for the RDOs. Looking at it this way, you'd be getting the better tweeters from the get go and you'd only be putting out $40 more. For two new, high-performing tweeters that will give you many years of enjoyment, it's kind of a no-brainer, IMHO.
