is this puppy as good as it proclaims to be as far as providing "tube-like" sound. I would be interested
in putting one between the pre and power amp. thanks.

Short answer....No. I owned one for a short time. It was not a good fit for my system. Smoothed out the highs, but muddied up the mids and bass in my system. I later had a Rogue Audio preamp that gave me a much better feel for what tubes are about.

I have a yaqin CD-3. I did not care for it between my amp and my pre, but I really like it between my CDP and my pre. I liked it enough in that capacity that I kept it over the Bada tube CD player I bought.

It will not make your non-tubes sound like tubes, but it can improve the sound if you have an impedance mismatches between equipment.

bought some from this very seller super fast shipping and very good tubes. you can get the same tubes from USA seller for 40.00. I liked the 14.00 so much I bought 6 pair all matched.
So far i have used JAN GE,Siemans and Tung-Sol. The Russian tubes have it all great bass wonderful mid range and crystal clear highs.

I have a parasound hca-1200 amp and hafler dh-110 pre. I don't think I have an impedence match problem. they're connected
to rta12b's. and thanks for all the input.

oops. wrong quote in my last post. should have been this one. the parasound is 4 ohm rated, which is what I need for the rta12b's,
    which are 4 ohm speakers.
