Well just thought I would do a shootout of these amps using the perfectwave dac directly hooked up to the two
Well here is my observations and its not an indepth comparison between the two but rather a few words
The Anthem beats the crap out of the wyred 4 sound and its a big surprise because they are supposed to have great control over it and the Anthem is know for not as heavy a slam in that department. I did some ZZ top and alice cooper and the Anthem has that really extended bass that seems to travel further across the room. Be it rock or dance, the wyred 4 sound just has a more neutral accurate bass thats just a little anemic for my tastes
The midrange seems more musical on the Anthem and the Anthem climbs higher and is brighter in the treble department. Its only when I listen to the SX 500 mono's that I get an idea of how clean and free of distortion these amps really are. The sx 500 seems to have less of forward mids but what it does do is give a totally clean honest presentation
There were so many tracks I am going through on my Anthem right now and I am saying to myself, Cant hear that as clear as I did with the wyreds. There are just so many vocals done by the background singers that you cannot follow as close and the decay is pathetic in comparison
I really with the sx 500's were more bass heavy and had fuller mids with the same detail and accuracy and top end then I would have my dream amp. Hopefully Bobsauto comes through with some encouraging insight into them d'sonics
