Monitor II Series mixed with RTI?

I am really interested in upgrading my home theater going forward and the RTi line on Polks eBay store is so tempting. I currently have all of the newer Monitor series in a 7.1 setup, if I were to throw in some RTi towers would the timbre be really off and would it be noticeable? Should I upgrade the L/C/R all at the same time?

Also, am I going to notice a large improvement over my 75Ts compared to...say...the RTi8s or even the RTi10s?

Thanks all!

First, and most importantly, what are you using to power this 7.1 system?

I would recommend doing the L/C/R all at the same time if you are wanting to upgrade. That way, you are assured there will be no mismatch in the timbre.

If I can be so bold, what exactly are you finding that you lack in your HT system that is prompting you to move on to RTis?
The Monitor Series II/New Monitor speakers are a really good, dynamic speaker for HT use.

Answering those questions will help us spend your money more wisely for you.

Right now I am powering them with a Yamaha RX-A1020 but I will be getting a seperate amp for at least the L/R.

Honestly, I dont have a great reason to upgrade. I just always get the itch because I want a better setup. Probably a dumb reason, at least to my wife it is :P

Just to clarify, I am probably moving to a 200wpc amp for the front 2 or 3.

Looks like you have multiple threads going for the same topic. Let's stick to the other one as you are getting lots of good feedback there.

Well the other one is more about power that I need, this one was for mixing speaker lines and the best way to upgrade. Tried to keep them focused :/

Well, it is a slippery slope really. More power may satisfy your upgrade itch...
But you are going to need more power to properly run the RTis.
    So it comes full circle...

Ah, ok. Well we can kill this thread and move over to the other one :)
