Following speaker placement guidelines...
Huh What?

I've been reading up on some of the speaker placement guidelines both on the forum here and at sites like Cardas and Rives Audio. I'm going to be setting up my system in a 16' x 26' room with an approximately 9' ceiling. According to prevailing logic, that would mean placing the front of my speakers roughly 7' out from the wall behind them. That seems like a big chunk of space.
My question is, who out there with a similar space has tried this setup? I've always found myself moving the speakers closer to the wall behind them, but often because of limited room space. I'd be interested to get actual listener feedback and what the final placement/listening results were (soundstage, bass response, etc).

What speakers do you plan on running? I've never heard of any speaker needing to be set that far off the back wall. Usually 1 or 2 feet should be adequate even for the largest speaker. Could be wrong though.

For the Talon's....a few feet off the back and side walls with a slight toe in should work fine for you. Of course experiment a little, half a foot this way or that way. Also depends on whats in between them, a monster entertainment center or a low glass stand. That too may dictate how far out from the wall they need to be. In either regard, the face of the speaker should at least be even with the tv stand if not a bit more forward.HT SYSTEM-
