...it's not offered in cherry? The 706c is. Seems kinda weird.

Probably cost savings like all other limited options that manufacturers offer.

There's only two finishes for the LSiM's. One center offers both and the other doesn't. To me, that's kinda odd, especially in a premium line.

I would contact someone here on the forum from Polk. Given all of the lines and color options that Polk offeres, I bet it was a manufacturing goof in tooling, etc or shortage, etc. Something that will take some time to get corrected. I bet at some point they will have it available. On second thought I would maybe call Polk instead of emailing....unless you have the fiunds and space to go for the 706?

Well, yeah.. cost is an issue if building a full HT rig out of these things. My room isn't that big, so I was hoping to go with the smaller center and use my 703's as mains.

Here's the response I just got back after emailing Polk:

    Hi Jeff,
Unfortunately there are no plans to offer the LSi M704 in cherry anytime soon.
    =====

I still say that's a rather odd move.

What's your budget for a center?

    Jephdood,

Ask polk which center would be a better match for the 703s. I have a feeling it will be the 706.

I don't have an exact number in mind. I just follow my gut, and when it puts out an strange gurgle followed by some hot burps and the sweats, I know something is out of my comfort zone.

The lower the better, obviously. The 704's on Ebay from Polk would be do-able, but I want a matching finish. Anything else is going to have to be used (probably) and a great deal.

Well, right on the 704 product page, it says:

"Big enough to stand up to the power of the floorstanding LSiM705 or the LSiM703 bookshelf loudspeaker, you can use this center channel speaker to perfectly match the size and performance you’re looking for."

Well, now I agree with you. This sucks given this is their flagship line. Also, the $510 cost to jump from Polk Direct to the 706 is a bit much to pay for a larger cabinet and 6-1/2" drivers.

I think you will have to go back to your original plan of using a 703 as a center...perfect match and a few hundred cheaper than the 706.

Sorry to hijack, but since the original question has been answered I figured it wouldn't be a big deal.

Is the 704c a definite upgrade from the CSi5? I'm looking to upgrade and the 706c would not fit in the space I have but the 704 would. Will most likely be matching it with 703 fronts.

Definitely and besides the CSi5 would not timbre match the 703's.

Yeah I'm getting rid of the CSi5 regardless, I just wanted to ensure that the "lower" tier lsim center is still better than what I currently have. Thanks.

That is weird, but you can opted for the lime-green option which is stunning!
