Yea without control I might have a clone of myself that is the evil side.
I was just thinking about advantage if he was controllable.
If I cloned my wife I would have two people telling me to "turn it down".
But I would not need to keep any books around they would both know it all, to a second level

....Well, how did that work out ? Working with both parties gave us amnesty for 10 million back then, and now working together will do it all over again. So I have to ask, what is the value of citizenship then ?

Besides, the 2 parties you mentioned has no middle ground as they are both on opposite sides of the spectrum. Kinda like Israel and the Palestines....where's the middle ground to accomplish peace when one side wants to eliminate the other ?

As far as Reagan being an actor......not nearly as good an actor as the one we have now, wouldn't you say ?

Maybe McQueen, John Astin (Gomez Addams), and Cary Grant to have guys as cool as I am to hang with. FZ for obvious reasons. And Buddy. So he could play with one hand everything Neil plays with two and then punch him in the head just for having the nerve. Custer, just to ask him "WTF were you thinking General?" The above is the list that I could think of off the top of my head that would be worthy of a clone. Given that the question is to only choose one? I find this to be a discombobulating question. IMO, greatness is not concentrated, it is distributed. Therefore if I were to choose just one, it would be the last on the list.

For a couple of families where I teach, quite well to be honest. One owns a popular restaurant that employs 22 people FULL-TIME (about the same number as a nearby Wal-Mart most likely!:biggrin:). Another family created a custodial cleaning business. Both are generous with their time, talent, and treasure to the school and parish.

Tony- Reagan made the amnesty deal in hopes that the second law involving securing the border would follow right behind. Instead, it never happened as a combination of democrats and big companies i.e Tyson fought it off as they needed the labor. It was one of the very few times that Reagan got caught on the short side. In an overwhelming number of laws he won out and included responsible suggestions by democrats. It is well known that he and Tip O'Neill spent many evenings with a tumbler of booze talking and finding a way to make a law pass that would work for both sides.


I have no doubt that if Reagan were to run today, the far right would find him too liberal.

I mentioned zero about his acting background, that may have come from somebody else.

I have so much more to say as an Eisenhower republican but don't want this thread closed.

I get all that Marc, but the same thing is happening all over again. Whats the point in doing it again if enforcing the border, scrutinizing who comes in the door is not held to the fire ? Should be one process for all and stringent requirements along with a heavily enforced border. Not empty promises to do so in the future. You can't take the process and start making exceptions for different groups of people. All comes down to wording of legislation and stiff penalties for breaking those laws for both private and government entities. In other words, we need some iron clad policy, not another 2000 pages of junk that enables some to skirt the most meaningful parts. Otherwise we are back at square one and will revisit this again in another 10-20 years. Sorry for the derail here, as we are getting off topic of cloning one person. Just tired of being sold a "perceived" notion of doing something over having something with teeth for all involved.

Now, back to cloning.......aliens, gotta have one. Wouldn't mind an Uncle Martin hanging around. If you youngsters know who that is.

Picking just one is a real task. I guess I'd want someone who would be a good representative of the human race in case an intelligent alien came to earth to visit us (so, that leaves me out). In that context, inventors, artists or politicians don't really come to mind for me. I'd want someone who is selfless and embodies that part of the human spirit, like a Mother Teresa type. Guess I'd pick the Dalai Lama, I always liked his quote “Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them.” Think I'd like the alien to see that part of us.

George Washington was about as selfless a public servant as you could ever find, and he had the stones needed to not just lead but to COMMAND respect.

I fear if aliens met Mother Theresa, or the Dali Lama, we would all be taken as slave labor to work the Dylithium mines on Seti Alpha Nine way out past the Delta quadrant....

LOL....just having some fun with ya Red. But on a serious note, why is it anyway that people automatically assume an alien race would come here to bestow some great knowledge or tech on us ? If you look at our own rock, humans are the top intelligence yet we eat everything under us....or use to experiment on. Now that would probably change some if we could communicate with other life forms. Could you imagine farm animals talking back ? Any sign of intelligence makes us pause at slaughter, but not eliminate it all together. Like Chimps/Dolphins/ even elephants.

So I guess some would welcome an alien presence but myself......I just want to make sure I'm not on the menu under "Appetizers".:cheesygrin:

You're so right Tony. Unfortunately, you could add humans to your list. On a lighter note, I like Keiko's choice, they could clone 7of9 all day if they want! And don't ever forget, if an alien wearing a bib and sporting a knife and fork is chasing you and a friend, you don't have to be faster than the alien, just your friend :cheesygrin:
