Maybe, but what does that have to do with anything? This is an audio forum, not a car forum.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -
It's like they say cables are the most marked up audio component.
I'm glad he's enjoying the sound though because that's all that matters..I'm still trying to figure out how a farm boy can afford 8300 dollar cables. What are you? CEO of Monsanto? lol
AGRIBUSINESS RULES!
Cheezy science? Was that developed in Wisconsin?

I know a dumb **** who bought a used corvette with a automatic transmission. Automatic transmission? Ya gotta be kidding me!! -
As for this thread and subject in my opinion.......................................
If I had a $50. system I would not buy $1,000. cables
If I had a $10k system I would not use coat hangers -

15% of system cost is what I budget for cables. If cost was no object, I would buy whatever I wanted, but on my dime(really that's all I have right now) I will stick to buying better gear to improve sound.
I am so happy with Doug's wares that I would probably continue to use them if I could afford a D'Agostino system and Martin Logan CLX...The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

Which cables did you purchase from Doug? I am thinking about DIY's from Doug. Would you change anything about the ones you purchased.
I will most likely buy a couple pairs from him after reading great things and George also highly recommends them.
OOOOPS I hope I didn't derail the thread. -
Guys, no need to tongue lash PFB for his choices. There's a learning curve in all this and if he has the coin to spend his curve can be as wide as he wants.
That said, I have to agree with some others that cables don't represent a permanent place in one's system if swapping gear in and out is your desire. It's that whole synergy thing again, one cable is not going to be a one size fits all type of thing in audio. What works with some gear may not be ideal for others.....no rocket science involved.
......and with that said, at some point you just have to sit back and enjoy the tunes. Audio isn't a race to see who can spend the most coin, who has the latest and greatest gear/cables. Certainly we all like to discover new things, but constant flippers of gear are usually not into audio for the right reasons. That's not aimed at you PFB, just generally speaking. Now get your Primaluna's back and enjoy some music.HT SYSTEM-

Hello, PFB. I have to give you some credit. At least you "tried" a nice cable. That's more than I can say for some of the folks who have come and gone on this forum. Usually it is those same folks who still haven't tried that still seem to insist that cables don't make a difference.....you went out and actually tried. Kudos to you. Now you are in the know.
Good news for you is that the cable seems to pair up nicely with your rig. Enjoy.
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

Well my listening room is not the best because its not treated. The speaker cables were hooked up to ML Vista's being fed by some W4S sx 500 mono's through a pair of wireworld platinum eclipse to the perfect wave dac with all wireworld electra ac cables. Not the best scenario for doing any serious comparison so its was just a casual observation
-
No offence taken sir, My problem is that it is so hard to get my ears on equipment around these parts. I just got rid of the sx 500 mono's so now I am doing alot of reading and do not have a clue what to get next lol
