A special thanks to those on here that helped me with questions regarding my SDA's & how they match with Adcom. So i took the plundgeAttachment not found.GFA-555 & GFP-565 hope to have it hooked up this weekend. But its back to work for now. Thanks again everyone

Congrats. You should be pretty happy with it. Interested in your impressions on the phono input on that pre and how it compares to anything else you've used. Enjoy.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Congrats on the new amp.

Careful that that Adcom doesn't blow you into your neighbor's house! But most of all, have fun!

Congrats. The back of the GFA-555 looks a little odd. Am I seeing things or are there other connections below the factory installed binding posts?

In addition, now you can try out the Carver you picked up the other day!

i want a SACD or something different for this Adcom set up....time to say goodbye to my trusty old HK cd player ive had for YEARS.time to catch up with times.....thanks all. I hope to get it up n running asap. I need to rearrange wtuff so its not that easy-but fun......i have lots of questions 1) is it ok to keep Pre-amp on top ?--or will heat be problem ?
2) i may want tuner. But is there a way i can use the Carver temp ? Or would i have to use that by itself because its a pre-am/tuner..... (Id like to pick up a Adcom tuner, but wallet says NO) i will be hooking up amp & pre-so if i cant ad the Carver as just a tuner. It wont happen. I will wait it out till i buy one or use a crappy ars sony i see for 10.00) any thoughts before this weekend is great.......thank you kindly again--randy.. -

Very interested in how you hear the highs with this. It's the one criticism I've read. I have the 555-ii and I think it gets a little harsh on the top end. But I have tinnitus and that may be the culprit.

Congats on your new toys.I think your going to like the clarity of the Adcom. But what do know .All I know it's very powerful and comes on instantly and just pumps. Mine unless pushed using multiple speakers barely gets warm,I'd like to know if I just have a great piece or Adcoms are known for that.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

You should be able to use the Carver as a tuner. Simply put the Carver into tuner mode & connect a tape out from the Carver to any input other than phono on the Adcom. My 555 generally runs pretty cool unless I'm using lower impedance speakers at higher volumes. Though most of the heat is given off by the heat sinks in the rear. I personally don't like stacking anything on top of an amp, but realistically if whatever you put on it doesn't overhang the heat sinks, it'll probably be OK.

+1.
It's hard to overheat a 555 unless you head toward clipping it--plus the heat is dissipated through the back fins that are fairly clear of the Pre-amp above, you're good. Dave is right about running the Carver into the Adcom for its tuner. That'll do you for now!
Hook her up and fire away!

A lot of that bite up top is more about what pre-amp you use with one than the amp itself.
The pre Randy has may be a little bright on the high end, we'll see what he thinks.

Thanks guys. I just looked on the Bay & i can pick up a very clean tuner for 1-150.00 so that will do fine. For now i will try it with the Carver just temporary for a little bit till next payday. I think im going to put the Amp by itself. I will know more when i start moving things around tomorrow. Thanks again. Big help from all..

It sounds wonderful. I listened to N Young for 2 hours n drove my wife nuts. But i enjoyed it alot :)It not too harsh at all. Clean is all i can say. So real like Neil was sitting on a chair in front of me. Im not good at explaining how it sounds but it is perfect for what i was hoping to get from it..i ordered a tuner for it today-should be here this week. Just a plain jane adcom tuner.very pleased with Adcom...
