How the F!*K does one attain "complete control" over a crocodile? They are unchanged, zillion year old, eating machines, not unlike the Great White Sharks. The only way to exert ANY control over them, is by stuffing your body down their throats. You MIGHT make them gag a little that way.

I watched his 'live' shows on Animal Planet earlier this year and he dropped the ole' F bomb on his co-workers a few times on live TV. Ole' Steve-O is kind of an ****....It's too bad because I kinda liked him because he's so passionate about his job and it's overwhelmingly amusing.

I've been to Oz, and seen those crocs up close, live and in person. When they want to, they move as fast as a cat. If that thing fancied that tot, he would've taken him, and the only thing old "Steve-O" could've done, was stand there and watch.
That was a 13 footer. The big boys come in at 20-25 feet. Nightmares with legs.

Maybe that Croc isn't as dumb as people think. He's been fed chickens on a regular basis and probably knows the drill well enough to do it with his eyes closed. Why would he want to screw up a good thing and end up as a handbag? Besides all that, it's his kid, his choice.
Then we have wacko Jacko (No, I don't like him) holding his kid over the edge of a railing, BFD!!! He had two hands on him and he didn't drop him.
How is any of it different than letting your kid go outside to play? There are so many things that COULD happen, should you go to jail because of something that could happen.

I agree with that Max......I mean, how many of us have ever decided that a gator looked like fun to go over and hop on and tackle. He's done that, and done it for QUITE a while, so (albeit a bit risky) I think that he's a little more qualified to gauge the safety of himself and his child in there than any of us. With Irwin, it was only gonna be a matter of time before he gets the kid around those animals........comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

As a CIVILIZED group of complex, multi-celled organisms, we strive to MINIMIZE our childrens exposure to unnecessary risk of harm or discomfort. This is why we find it unnacceptable to let our children go out in the winter without the proper clothing, but still find it acceptable to throw them in the car to spend the holidaze at grammy and grampys house. It is a NECESSARY risk. We, the kids, grammy and grampy, ALL NEED that interaction.
This is the same reason that WE find the individuals actions with the croc to be unnacceptable. WHAT were the possible results both good and bad? The kid seemed much too young to be learning any type of lesson from the incident. Additionally, in the event that the croc DID get lucky, and snap off one of the kids legs, I would've found it interesting to be on hand a few years down the road when DAD-O was explaining JUST WHY Little Croc Hunter couldn't run and jump with the rest of the kids.
The man had a INCREDIBLY LARGE lapse of good judgement, that fortunately no one had to pay for. He compounds the mistake by making the type of statement he made afterwards. I mean, who's going to let their kids hang-out with Steve-O now? You?
Just because you teach your kids about firearm safety, doesn't mean you leave loaded guns within their reach.

This hardly needs debate or discussion, all you need to do is look at the picture or video. It's just plain wrong, and you know it just by looking at it. I hope that every one of you gets this indignant every time you see an infant or child riding in a car while not in a restraint device or riding in an adult's lap. The chance of the child in the car getting hurt or killed is MUCH greater than Irwin's child getting hurt. If you don't ...YOU SHOULD!
Every parent puts their child in harms way at some point or the other. We do things that we do not consider a risk but could cause harm to our child. As some have said maybe a car trip to see grandma is a justifyable risk.... Irwin probably feels ( and is probably correct ) that his child is safer in his arms in a crocodile pen than he would be on any major hwy in the US. I know he has a better idea of how that croc is going to act than he would the idiot driver in the car next to him. This guy hasn't lived as long as he has not having an acute sense of what these animals are about.
My point is this...if you have children...YOU...have done something that could have seriously injured of killed your child. You didn't mean to, it may have seemed innocent at the time, it was not intended to put the child in harms way and no harm came from it...but it happend. That is unless you put your child in a bubble that it never left until it was of age.
I agree with Brett on this...in a very short period of time that child will be doing things around dangerous animals that we would never ever consider...probably just like Irwin did as a child.
