    Hey! Don't blame me.

    Congratulations.

Thank you, and sincerely, thanks for the sensible advice.

I spent all day pulling a new run of Cat 6 cable from my router to the location of the DAC so that I can use the Bridge. Great fun -- not!

Get your 'puter set up for it's arrival. Make sure your program and ripped files are in place. Download some hi-rez to put that puppy threw it's paces. Obviously your going to hard wire it all since you ran the USB cable ? How do you burn the cd's ? Look at Jriver for burning storing and playing. Get your cables too in hand if you need any additional. Nice dac your getting, hard to imagine it won't tickle some fancies. Since your using a Mac, maybe look at Pure music or other higher end software for us audiophile nut jobs.

I do not have the set up complete, yet. I have to -- or rather, want to get a NAS installed and some software to replace ITunes.

However, I have been listening to a variety of music, from classical to jazz -- on the PWD and PWT using the PWD directly connected to my amps. Without going into great detail, I would say that the definition of the sound stage is greatly improved, especially clarity of positioning of the sound sources on the stage. The three-dimensionality is definitely better than with the CA Azur 840C. The clarity of the timbre of instruments and of vocalists' voices is definitely improved. Bass seems to bee more potent and tighter. Right now, listening to diana Krall's "All for You," the rendering of the piano is very clear and precise, as are the positions of all the instruments on the sound stage. I'm very pleased with what I hear so far.

I have no experience with the Oppo 105, but it clearly has the advantage of playing SACDs and DVDs.

That CA Azur cdp is a fine one at that. We say it often enough around here....there's more to a dac than a simple dac chip.

Again, congrats on the PS...looking forward to your observations when you start throwing hi-rez at it.

    Thanks, tonyb.

Today, I ordered a Synology NAS (DS713+ 2 bay with 2x4 Terabyte WD Red disk drives) and a new router (Linksys EA6900) to support gigabit speed on my home network and serve music to the PWD. I won't likely get all this stuff installed till I return from a trip later this month.

I also have a trial version Audirvana downloaded, but, frankly, I'm not sure how I can use it till I get the equipment installed. I got a bit ahead of myself. I also want to give JRiver a test drive, if possible.

I shall post results as I get things done -- or, more likely, need advice and help! :~) I think it will be a miracle if I get my home network upgraded with this equipment and also get it working as I would like.
