SACD Bass Mgmt question

I currently own a Sony DVP-NC7555V which can only be run with the speakers set to small if I want to operate my SVS.
My Sony CX8500V will allow the SVS sub to operate with speaker settings set on large, which I prefer, as I have added my Polk RT20p's to the system and they need the large setting to operate the built in sub.
Does Sony or any one else make a SACD player that will operate the SVS sub while speaker settings are set on large?

You might want to consider getting the ICBM from outlaw audio. SACD players are notorious bad at bass management. I have heard the Denon 2900 does a pretty good job though it might just be for DVD-Audio.

The Sony AVR will allow the subwoofer to run, regardless of the setting, small or large. The SACD player setup menu for SACD playback is not needed.
It sounds as though you are using too many menus, let the AVR handle the decoding.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

I do have the cd/dvd player set up through AVR and the sacd player is set up on its own menu.
What do I need to do set the AVR to over ride the SACD menu?

Yes it does have an AFD button, but I think it does not funtion in 5.1 Do I need to have a digital cable coming out of th sacd player? As it stands the only connections I have from the sacd to the AVR is 5.1Sony 53" TV

Since you are using the 5.1 only connections, from the SACD, make sure that you have the multi-channel direct input function, set to your SACD player. If it is set to none, you will not get 5.1, you will only get 2CH stereo. It will decode from the AVR at that time, whenever you play a SACD.
It is in the "Customize" menu.
Let me know what that does for you. Also reset all your SACD player functions to default, the settings should be in the manual.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Thanks for the info.
I just played musical shuffle with my speakers and believe I have found sweet perfection.
I moved my sub to the inside of the right front Rti150 (Channel A). Use to be in far right corner 9' to the right of the right Rti150.
I then switched out my RTi70's with the RT20p's and have the RTi's set up on Channel B and the 20's set as my rear surrounds.
I can now set the fronts to small and have the sub pick up the bass as it now sounds more centered in the room as I felt having it far to end of the room left a dead spot on the other side.
My rears can be set to large and can take advatage of the built in subs and most importantly I can have my 150's and 70's running together while listening to cds.
I'll now need to decide if I need more power for the fronts, but as it now stands I think the Sony Receiver will handle the load. I still can't believe it is handling everything I'm throwing at it. So far the best $500 (on a used piece of equipment) I've ever spent.Sony 53" TV

It was my understanding that the AVR doesn't do ANY decoding with SACD/DVD-A. You have an external source delivering an analog signal via pre-out to pre-in on the receiver with 6 analog cables. My Denon 2200 decodes the hirez signals, filters them according to my liking (large/small) and incorporates the sub if I choose. I don't think my Denon AVR has any say whatsoever, but simply amplifies the signal it's sent.

Sony models decode the signal which is fed to them, in order to automatically switch from multi-channel direct, stereo or surround. Perhaps decode is the wrong word, would recognize be better? Decode is the word that Sony uses for that function.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Hey Loud & Clear how do like your DENON DVD 2200? I just bought one yesterday and I still haven't had the chance to hook it up. Does the bass management really work for SACD? How is the picture quality on regular DVD? How does it sound? Which do you prefer MULTI CHANNEL SACD or 2 CHANNEL SACD mode?
It looks like a great unit I haven't seen a lot of reviews on this particular model therefore, any help from someone that owns one will be very much appreciated.

the 6 analog RCA inputs on the rear of any AVR do not decode anything.. the player does the decoding when using SACD or DVD-a. those 6 inputs on your AVR are analog and is provides a clean signal to the AVR without any processing, or DSP's.. etc.
you need to enable the player in some cases to feed the 6 RCA output to your AVR. you THEN have to enable the AVR to recogonize the 6 RCA inputs... or else it may default to a optical or coax cable.
it's a pain to have to switch back and forth in the menu of the player.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Nico, yes, bass management works for both formats.
The sounds is nothing short of stunning, trust me. Instrumentation and vocals have a lifelike quality that's undeniable upon first listen. Listening to drum and cymbal tracks on The Who's "Tommy" will open your eyes, the pop and crash sounds true.
During the song "Songbird" on Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours," the lifelike dynamic of Christine McVie's voice is truly surprising. The level of articulation of the human voice is outstanding, stirring. The dynamic element of the sound gives it an authenticity that I've not heard before ... outside of a live experience.
I find that while I certainly enjoy surround sound on some disks and tracks, it's often somewhat distracting to me. I find that I prefer my hirez, or lowrez, in the more traditional front left and right presentation ... most of the time. But again, this really varies depending upon mood and how the recordings were done. Setup is also a factor, I'm sure.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure you're really going to love DVD-A & SACD. Oh, and the picture's beautiful. Hook up the player and enjoy.

DB - The Sony AVR does not require you to do all that button switching for multichannel. One button only and it is on the AVR. Now this is considering all Sony gear, the Denon would probably be exactly what you are talking about.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Thanks Loud & Clear I can't wait to get this thing hooked up. What do you prefer in terms of digital connections TOSLINK or COAX? Is one better than the other like component is better than S VIDEO? Do you have the new FLEETWOOD MAC DVD AUDIO? What does your collection consists of in terms of SACD AND DVDA?

that's great.... Sony has one up on the other brands.
so you are saying that from your player.. not your Sony AVR.. it feeds both an analog and a digital signal at the same time to your Sony AVR?
that's really cool. I can't do that.. my player only feeds what i choose in the menu.. either digital or analog. My friend's Onkyo does the same thing I think. But his player does not.. do most SACD or DVD-a player feed both signals at the same time? I must have a really only fashioned player. it's a Toshiba. The player will automatically detect which type of disc is in the tray.. but it defaults to a digial coax hookup.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Basically yes. Everything is hot from the SACD, I have to choose what I want to hear at the AVR. I don't use the SACD player for anything but a "Play" button....well a few more, but you know what I mean
Now if I was to get the Denon, I think my ease of use would diminish, but then again, I am not sure.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
