Carver CT-26v A/V preamplifier/tuner--i just picked it up for FREE on Clist. This is the first Carver ive owned. Lol. Any ideas what to do with it now ?i know separate's usually consist of amp/pre-amp/tuner. Does this unit do both pre & tuner. I havent a clue as i just picked it up & still in truck. Attachment not found.also got a cd player too

Well, it says "preamp/tuner" on its face plate so that question has been answered.

Yeah, get a power amp and hook her up. I have heard, though, that some Carver products like this often have some problems (reliability issues?).

kinda looks cheesy for a carver. Even though its in vgood condition. Must be the lower end of their stuff. But price was right

Thats a nice "JVC" cd player you got. They must have stuck a Pioneer logo on at the factory by mistake!

IIRC, you have a few receivers. Got one with pre-out/main-in jumpers? If so you could try it out that way.

that is Carvers Home Theater pre amp has a decent tuner. They are not really in demand because of the fact that it is Pro-Logic only. Enjoy for free if it works they had some bugs

I mean I get free is free and all, and maybe a nice thing to play around with for awhile, but I wouldn't spend the nest egg building anything around that piece.

i posted the original post 5 mins after i picked it up. Ive never owned a Carver. So i was asking for ideas as to what it was. I had never heard of a pre with a tuner all in one unit. So i was asking for ideas as to what it was...i know most units are a amp--pre amp--tuner.... Im just gonna tuck it away n hope someday to pick up a decent amp to hook it to....thanks for all the advice all

If you've not going to use it, or don't know how, see if you can get $40 for it and consider it a win.

i cant wait. The only bad thing about 20 degrees is the price of heating a big house. Im all set on 80 plus degrees..im gonna flip the Carver then put it toward buying a Adcom tuner. Thanks for feedback everyone.
