I'm not looking for any arguements here...this is just meant to be for fun for the guys and gals who choose to participate.

I realize that most of us are going to have 'our' teams as the winners, but I honestly wen't after this in a realistic fashion based more on following my team than worrying about the others.

I'll be honest....if Green Bay hadn't shown me what they have late in the season and the reaction of Favre after personal tradgedy I wouldn't have them making it out of the 1st round here...and they still may not.

I'll explain my picks more at the end of the post.

Wild Card:

Saturday, Jan. 3 -

Tennessee at Baltimore - Baltimore

Dallas at Carolina - Carolina

Sunday, Jan. 4 -

Seattle at Green Bay - Green Bay

Denver at Indianapolis - Denver

Divisional Playoffs:

Saturday, Jan. 10 -

(Carolina) at St. Louis - Carolina

(Denver) at New England - New England

Sunday, Jan. 11 -

(Baltimore) at Kansas City - Baltimore

(Green Bay) at Philadelphia - Green Bay

Conference Championships:

Sunday, Jan. 18 -

AFC: Baltimore at New England - New England

NFC: Green Bay at Carolina - Green Bay

Super Bowl XXXVIII:

Green Bay VS New England - Green Bay

From my perspective I see Brett Favre is the #1 danger in the playoffs. The reason I feel this way is because he is on a personal mission. I truly feel this is a team of destiny. I can see the eyes rolling right now, but I believe this. The points he has put up through the air these past few weeks are a testament that his personal tradgedy is having a motivational effect on him and the entire team. I realize the teams they played weren't playing for much or running 2nd stringers....but I don't think that would have made an ounce of difference.

The question is will it wear out or can other teams beat him when he's on this kind of a tear?

I don't think they can, but we shall see. The only game I'm truly worried about is the Seattle game in the opening round. Holmgren knows Favre and could know how to beat him in this situation....The fact we hammered the Seahawks earlier in the season gives me no reason to believe Green Bay won't win this one though....

My other concern is if Carolina loses to Dallas. If that does happen that sends us to St. Louis. The worst place Green Bay can end up is in a dome...which would ONLY happen ONCE this entire playoff series IF Carolina loses to Dallas. If it does happen I don't know if Green Bay can beat St. Louis....even as bad as St. Louis looks going into the post season

Philadelphia is a very beatable team for GB. Even at home. G.B held Philly completely at bay on their Monday Night game earlier in the season. GB lost it at the end do to a blown coverage call where Mike Sherman called for the Prevent Defense....well...all the Prevent does is prevent you from winning.

Philly didn't impress me in that game at all...even with all of the fumbles and interceptions that Green Bay gave to them with that terrible weather.

I feel that Green Bay is a 10x better team than they were that game. I think they've finally all pulled it together and rallied around their QB. This just doesn't seem like the same team that lost to Detroit and Arizona earlier in the season.

I truly think KC is the 'Fool's Gold' of the NFL this year. (Don't beat me!!!!!! ;) )

    Yep! :p;)

Anything can really happen as you said. The playoffs is a completely different animal. It's fun to see the fans do a little of their analysis though. Interesting to see the reasoning they use. I'm obviously taking into consideration 1 big road block and another possible big roadblock for my team, and also being a fan thinking they can overcome those obstacles. This whole Favre thing smells of John Elway at the back end of his career IMO.

Great game! Glad the Panthers won.

Most intense game I've seen in a long time. Easily could have gone either way.

I went 2-2 in the wild card round, and though I didn't update my picks I would not have changed my winners in the divisionals. I knew the Panthers would need a big play to win because their offensive line crumbled after Donnaley left.I was beginning to think the Rams defense would wind up scoring with all the pressure they were getting on Delhomme, that they would force a mistake. Then the Panthers pounced...

Cheering for the Pats and Chiefs for sure, but I'm unsure on the Eagles-Packers game. I really don't like either, but I hate having to listen to all the Packers fans around here, so I'm leaning towards Philly.

but I hate having to listen to all the Packers fans around here, so I'm leaning towards Philly.

I'm a lifelong Packer fan so it's no wonder I support them winning, but this ices it. At first I was saying that if Philly did beat us I'd want them to go to the super bowl...because a guy a I looked up to a lot (Joe Panos), used to play for the Eagles and he went to my high school. He used to come by on his off seasons and help coach me and a few friends one on one. He went to school with my brother so I guess I was kinda star struck, but I also thought it was cool a guy didn't let the fame get to his head and came back to his roots to help some kids out at his old school. I guess that kind of made the Iggles my 2nd favorite team. I don't want to blame the team for these comments and I won't, but I can't help but want them to lose just from their unsufferable fans alone. I'd expect a little bit of good natured ribbing on both sides, but now I kinda hope they lose because of their stupid media and fans (yes..I've see the message boards...makes the story below look like kind words for the Favre family)

Take a look at this partial article from the Philadelphia Enquirer. I was nuetral on this game but after these low blows, I am now a Packer fan. Keep in mind that Bret Farve's dad just passed away. This is from the same hypersensitive crowd that lambasted Rush for supposed insensitivity.
    FATHER:

Irvin Favre. As a high school football coach, he helped Southern Miss violate NCAA rules to recruit his son.

WIFE: Deanna. He got her pregnant when he was 18, and she was 19. Married her seven years later.

BROTHER: Scott. Killed a family friend when he drove his car into a railroad crossing and got hit by a train. Jailed for DUI.

SISTER: Brandi. A Mississippi beauty queen, arrested for shoplifting.

    Model citizen

In 1992, Favre was arrested after a barroom brawl in Hattiesburg, Miss., that began when he was arguing with the future Mrs. Favre. A bystander tried to intervene, and soon Favre was wrestling him to the floor. Favre was charged with drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and profanity.

    Pillhead

Favre was a substance abuser in the mid-1990s. In 1996, he announced he was addicted to Vicodin, a prescription pain-killer.

The NFL sent him to the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kan., to dry out. Favre now says he's sober.

    Mentor

"The biggest problem wasn't getting the pills down, it was keeping them down. I'd go into the bathroom, take a big slug of water, and try swallowing a handful of pills. Most of the time, I'd just throw them right back up and they'd land on the floor. No big deal. I'd just pick the pills out of the vomit, rinse them off, and try again."

    - From "Vicodin, Rehab and Beer. Hey, It Won Me a Super Bowl," an excerpt from Favre's 1998 autobiography, "Favre: For The Record," published in Esquire magazine

    Caring father figure

During his Vicodin addiction, Favre went into a seizure in front of his 7-year-old daughter. While watching her dad convulsing, the child screamed, "Is my daddy going to die? Is my daddy going to die?"

    A reformed man

Favre was sprung from rehab after lying to his counselors. In his autobiography, he brags:

"Finally, I told them what they wanted to hear: that I was a drug addict and I needed help. Sure enough, a week later they said, 'We think you're ready to leave.'

"...Then I walked out the door and was like, 'Screw you.' "

    Dork

He's a clubhouse prankster who's been known to put Heet ointment in players' jockstraps and shaving cream in their helmets. Once, he doused his own roommate with a bucket of ice water while he was on a commode.

If he wasn't making $10 million a year, somebody would've already pushed him off a tall building.

If the Vikings, Bears, or Lions were in it I'd be pulling for them. I'm a division guy. It's a heated rivalry vs all those teams in the regular season, but I'll always pull for them in the playoffs when my team is out.

You've got to like the Patriots chances to win it all at this point. Neither Kansas City nor Indianapolis want to play in zero degree weather up in New England.

Pats defeat Carolina for another trophy.

Good game Indy. I have them beating the Pats now. That will be a tough game though. I just don't see NE winning that one. Oh well. I still have GB or Philly over Carolina either way.

Going for Carolina and NE next weekend I suppose, although I wouldn't mind seeing Peyton Manning win the Super Bowl. He has just been a freak this year. I've never seen anyone control the game like him, just carving up defenses.
