I think I'm losing my mind...over amps!

I think I need to check myself in & get checked out. Here's my dilemma, tell me if you think I'm nuts. For starters ever since I picked up the D-Sonic mono-blocks I've been gaga over their performance to the point now that I'm contemplating picking up one of D-Sonic's 3 channel amps (500w/8ohmx3) for the center & surrounds to round out the front end. Now my master plan would then be (down the road a bit) to sell off the Rotel & pick up a nice used 7 channel amp for the other channels. Make sense or am I off my rocker just a bit??? Damn I love this hobby!!!

Nah...those surrounds will never use 500 watts of power, kind of a waste. Since your not using any of the receivers amps, why not instead move up to a HT processor ? Maybe a Cary cinema 12, or one from Bryston, Anthem, etc. May kick up the SQ a few notches in the music department too.HT SYSTEM-

Thats what I was thinking tony , get rid of the receiver if you want to go that crazy on amps -
Sounds like a lot of power for surrounds? I guess you will have to set goals and decide what gains you are after. Who can really say what changes will offer the best performance.
I guess if I were in your shoes and got the Class-D amp craze I would have to put some things in perspective. At $1575 the 3 channel offers a ton of power but is the extra power really needed for surrounds? Maybe use the 3 ch for the LCR and sell the mono's?
OR
Maybe a refurb Elite SC-67 or SC-68 will offer what you are looking for in terms of Class D power for the other nine channels. Could sell off the Yamaha and the Rotel. Combined with the D-Sonic mono blocks, you would have a full Class-D system. 1260 watts Center/Surround/Presence + 1000 watts L&R + 2000 watts LFE
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Shop/Specials/Home+specials
OR
Or maybe go all out Class-D crazy with a Pre-Amp? Sell off the mono blocks, the Yamaha, the Rotel, then pick up the Marantz AV8801 (w/ 11.2 capability and MultEQ XT32), and have custom D-Sonic amp/set made 250 Watts x 11 or 400W x 3 + 250 Watts x 8?

Go for it Phil, your surrounds will enjoy the boost in power just like your front speakers do. I doubt any of my speakers use the 405wpcs that my Sunfire puts out. However, whatever they do use allows them to operate to their full potential, and THAT is the most important factor. A lot of great feedback...thanks guys/gals. As far as falling into the rabbit hole, until you hit China there's still plenty of hole left.
Tony: I hear ya but I am using 4 channels of the Yammie AVR amp. My thought here is to have all 11 channels of amplification so I can at some point go with a HT processor. In fact Yamaha just came out with separates so things are looking up. And I'm sure more & more companies will also be offering separates. But I do need an 11 channel processor, after running a 5/7 channel system & then going to an 11 channel system there simply isn't any going back. My room dimensions (32'x13') are a perfect fit with plenty of side wall for speakers. I realize that a lot of rooms just aren't capable of that many speakers & a 5/7 channel system is the perfect fit. But hell I have the room so why not use it to it's fullest. As of now Cary, Bryston & most others only offer up to a 7 channel processor which just won't do.
Cathy: I always liked your way of thinking girl. I'm cut from the same cloth...you can never have enough power!!!

Go for it. Buy the amps then the Marantz AV8801 11.2 pre/pro. Thats on my short list so I can read your review before purchasing it. Just kidding. I was in a similar situation. I have a 2 channel Parasound then went with the W4S big boy 5 channel amp. Now Ive set myself up to buy a dedicated pre/pro and use the W4S for 5.1 + main 2 channel and the Parasound can power my outdoor speakers currently running off my AVR. I can also add on to the W4S if I want to go 7.1. Do the center and surrounds need that much power? Probably not. But boy my system has never sounded better. If you buy the amps, I believe it opens up more options when you update the processor. Bring the Power!_____________________________________________________________________________________________

32' x 13'? Is that a TUNNEL? Very long and narrow, but certainly lots of room for 11.2.
I'd say do what you will. It's your call. To POWER up or not to POWER up? That is the Question!

Well,... I think you've already done a good job with your buying...a full 11.2 worth. Your system seems complete and already powerfull. I think that is the issue. You might have to go a little crazy, or man up(and listen to Terry:cheesygrin:) and go for broke to find what you are after. A new 3 ch D-Sonic, and maybe a new CX-A5000 pre, and a beastly 7 ch like a Sunfire TGA-7401, Sherbourn PA 7-350, or Outlaw 7900 is going to cost...but its sounds like you are already headed in this go BIG or leave it alone direction?

Anyway, I would love to take a listen to your system...also, I'm fond of Kef and really want to listen to the Q900's. Consider HrQ "processing*." What(?!) Well can't say for sure though I saw good ideas.
I agree w/"no such thing as too much (HQ) power" Take it from me, you won't regret it. I find you'll experience "effortless."
I said all that to this: follow*w/ a third mono for your CC. Use the Rotel for side/surrounds/rears.
