LSi9 and 7's help

If this site classifies them as bookshelf speakers, as the manufacturer they would be correct regardless of your argument.
Yes the unified manual for the LSi line up lists them as bookshelf (IMO a 'catchall' phrase) units. Maybe one of the Polk engineers can take a moment to chime in. -

Seriously?
Why not? I've seen other speaker engineers post on other forums. I think it would be great. -

Pretty sure you missed the intention of his comment by a ballpark.Main Surround -

Then the originator shouldn't have been so open in allowing interpretation. -
The funny part is where the originator asked for you, Habanero Monk, to, in no uncertain terms to refrain from comment as so far, nothing you have posted to the OP's inquiry.
In fact, the *only* reason you posted in this thread was to argue pitdogg's assertion that LSi7s and LSi9s are indeed classified as bookshelf speakers.
In doing so, you validated my assertion that your only purpose in this thread was to be argumentative. And you continue to do so by not even acknowledging that your posts have done nothing to answer the OP's original question and continue to be nothing more than arguing a point that has quite nothing to do with the OP's query.
As I stated before, you do more to indict yourself by your continued tangent than I ever could.
I await your rebuttal because it is abundantly clear that you have such a high level of insecurity in your own word that you feel the need to always attempt to have the last one."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

OK seriously Monk, I could careless about what they are "supposed to be called". I wanted opinions on SPEAKERS THAT ARE SMALLER THAN A FLOORSTANDER. OK? Does that make enough sense to you??
Honestly I don't get how this is hard. I wanted opinions between the two, and suggestions for other speakers (and once again I don't care what you call it, monitor, bookshelf, stand mount (who even calls it that??)).
Please just stop posting in this thread, it really did nothing for me and still is doing nothing pertaining to my question which it appears you are very good at not giving any feedback on. -
 Wow. Glad somebody put an end to that.
They probably won't be suited to you but I am constantly impressed at how large my baby Totems sound. When the dealer let me demo them he warned that they were the most unassuming little speaker I'll ever hear and he hit it on the head. Big sound from a little box. In your price range there might be a few models in the line that might be worth a listen.Display: LG 47" LCD | AVR: Marantz SR5005 | BD: Panasonic BDT-210 | CD/SACD: Oppo 980 |

Music for me is hard as I listen to anything and everything. One day I'll be playing classical, move to metal, then to some trance etc. I'm all over as I enjoy pretty much anything under the sun.
I'm not replacing the Carvers, I'm just trying to get some ideas for a 2nd system I have. I was doing a HT set up and was planning on running an all Lsi set up but also for the same room was thinking of getting a nice pair of 2 channel monitors and running it off some Musical Fidelity gear. I was going to run Lsi9's front, 7's for sides, the Lsi center. Right now I picked up a cheap Pio Elite AVR to run and was looking at a 5 channel amp. I like the Lsi for HT and music has been good, just needing something a little more.
The Musical Fidelity would just be a side thing running another pair of "stand mounted" speakers. It might not MF gear but that was something I wanted to try out. Was looking at an integrated, otherwise the Teac higher end series integrated or the LSA amps. NAD is also a choice. Just will depend on what I go to.
The main system is going thru some changes, I'll have the Carvers but I'm getting some other speakers for in there right now. Soundlab is what is going into that room shortly.
Oh and I do have a sub I use with the Lsi's right now if I need a little extra low end. Just a cheap Energy 8". Don't need it with the 9's but find I need it with the 7's or my Thiels. -
Some options that I have heard at around to slightly above your budget that I really liked:
Revel M106 (M105s sounded good but gave up a lot of low end to the 106's larger 6.5" driver)
ProAc Tablette Anniversary and Response D1 (I prefered the Tablette over the D1 but they were really close.) Also my favorite visually of this bunch.
Peachtree Audio D-5
NHT Classic 3 (Well below the rest in cost at $1k/pr probably the best midrange of the bunch but giving up some on the low end.)
B&W CM5 (I am not really a big B&W fan but these guys sound pretty dang good to me on tube power.)
And if you could manage double your budget, I would say the Pioneer S-2EX on closeout for $4k. Absolutely amazing speakers for the price and sharing DNA with TAD CR-1s."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Thanks for the info! B&w not my fav as I have heard them before and while good just didn't love them. I need to come down your way when I have some time as I've heard some great things about the pioneers and need to make it to your friends shop

I really wish I could hear the Ushers in person.
Chris you are welcome any time but bear in mind mid March is when he has his open house and you get to meet the guys behind brands like ProAc and Audio Research..."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

I'll toss a vote into the Ushers or the Revels. Revel makes a heck of a bookie, even their older models stand up. When it comes to speakers, no less than a gazillion choices out there. Try and get an ear on as much as you can.HT SYSTEM-
