Would you spend $150 on some Polk Monitor 11ts?

A local lady is selling a pair of Monitor 11t towers in black ash. They have the SL2000 tweeters. Not sure about the cabinet condition but I most likely will re-veneer them anyway. I don't know a lot about these but the general consensus is that they're pretty good despite their smaller footprint. Price? Is $150 too much to pay?

No I won't spend that much because I already have too many but that's a good price if they are all working and nice cabinets.

As long as they aren't beat up get em 150 for a decent speaker is nothing!

Well thanks... the answer in this case is no. Went to check them out. The lady was older and didn't realize that both tweeters were blown. One of the mid-driver's cones was caved in, both grills had cat pulls, cabinets had major tears and scratches and the particle board base on one was broken in several places. I just couldn't bring myself to make an offer.
I could however tell that had the tweeters worked, these speakers would've sounded great. -

Yeah I agree. I later called back and offered $75. She wouldn't take that, nor could she understand how much they were devalued by their condition. I'll look elsewhere.

You do that. I have found about eight pair of these at this point, and not one pair had any operational squawks or was less than living room presentable. One pair cost me $20. They are out there.
And after you hit 60 the SL2000 isn't so disagreeable. -

Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
Well we're back to negotiating. Even with the blown tweeters and cosmetic issues, she wants $100 for the pair. She won't go any lower.
Some used SL2000s would cost me about $50 (ebay). New cloth would be an expense too. I have the veneer. Darn I love projects. This is tough. They don't come up much around here, and she lives one mile from me! Aarrrgg! -

Well she settled for $80. I temporarily swapped out an old SL1000 tweeter from my Monitor 10s and they sound very good. Now I'm on the hunt for either some used SL2000s or RDOs. Any ideas there outside of eBay or CL?
