Paradigm ADP590 dipole surround placement
Hi everyone,
I live in a flat and given the dimensions of my room, the only place I can position surrounds is on the back wall. My question is, would it be okay to mount dipole surrounds high up on the rear wall and if so, would I be severely compromising on my surround sound?
Has anyone mounted their dipoles on the rear wall? This is purely a 5.1 setup. As my room is quite small, I can't squeeze an additional pair of speakers. To be perfectly honest I really do NOT want monopole surrounds in my room and that is purely due to aesthetics. The ADP590's look quite nice to me, but my only concern is whether they will work well placed on the back wall.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Really glad I came here as my friends told me the members here are very knowledgeable. At least now I'm armed with the knowledge I wanted, so I'll get the dipoles. Thanks for explaining the placement options for me and for reassuring me that it will work as I intend to use them.
Thanks again for your words of wisdom. -

Jesus f'ing christ dude, friggin chill, your post isnt even 5 hours old.. Most of us at ya know "at work" so we cant spend tons of time typing up a response. I will hit this thread when I get home tonight, but I believe you can do what your talking about, its in Polks setup guides for their LSi F/X series speakers.
I actually know fellow forum member indyhawg had his HT setup by pro's and they used Klipsh dipoles on his rear wall directly above his seating position.
So there ya go, it can be done, do it and be happy."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Thanks so much for your advice.

Don't waste your time Dan. This is the same nozzle that shows up on forums from time to time disputing the existence of such things as "tube sound" and "solid state sound" then spews a bunch of misquoted information, false accusations and half witted attempts at trying to disprove decades of sound audio theory."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Funny, several decades of sound theory has shown that amplifiers do not sound different when working under normal - ie non-clipping conditions and several decades of double blind testing has confirmed it.
Like many people who can't let go of long-held beliefs, you'll ignore the facts and promote voodoo because it makes you sleep better at night. Ignorance is bliss, and all that. Oh, there is no "false accusations" and "misquoted information". If you are going to make accusations you had better support them. -
