After consulting many members here and most clearly directed me to F-1 for guidence on how to finish off the tops and bottoms of these speakers.I personally NEVER liked Light/White Oak as furniture for speakers. Floors, yes it's a hardwood that can take a beating,a good staining and poly finish. With that said I decided on Walnut and after treating w/ an
acid bath sanding then staining I think they came out ok. one of the speaker's stain was very deep and is there now to a much lesser degree and I thinks looks good w/ graining being prominate and I will not got any deeper w/ any treatment. My only question now is on the kind of finish. Should I use a clear poly not quite the shineyest but a satin poly finish might do the trick.
About changing speaker wires,I guess that old gag of old dog and new tricks will not apply here after p/m w/ Doug and really explaining how my clear as new as it is will degenerate after time oxidise and comprimise the sound He also informed me that even though 1 speaker is close to the amp both pairs of runs should be matched to equalise the signal. After all these speakers worthy of at least something better and in do time I will try some cutom made cables.
they do sound great, all surrounds I'm guessing butyl rubber and apparently will outlast me and not pin hole in them, not a screww loose on the motor board and the passives are dent, and scratch free.Pix when the entire project is done.

Tung oil rubbed in well works good on walnut finishes...as long as the wood is genuine.

Minwax wiping poly would be a good choice for you.Political Correctness'.........defined
