Nothing to Buy and Hard to Sell.

I finally find something localish and check out the price. I didn't realize these had a rear firing subwoofer, either.
Has anyone else noticed there not only isn't anything to buy used and that it's impossible to sell stuff? I shouldn't have sold my a1's for $100 or the rt25i's for $75 if rt55's are $485 speakers. Ya, I know, they come with stands.

This thread is too whiny. I realize it's mostly due to the economy and people not buying new stuff. I'm not really mad or anything.

Agree they are priced to high. Call him and explain that $120 is the going price and make him an offer if you want the stands.
He may not know what he has and has priced them to high.
Never know and the phone call cost nothing.
Don't let a high price scare you away, I would have missed some great deals if I did that.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

Its the same way here in Columbus Ohio. I think folks are learning they can afford new/lesser items with full warranty found in online stores. And many sellers would just rather keep their gear than sell it at competitive prices. For instance I purchased a Onkyo705 avr 3 years ago used on Craig's for $275 and last January I purchased a new Onkyo717 new with warranty online for $499.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Cl pretty much consists of a bunch of guys buying stuff to put up on EBAY.
They lowball everything they buy. I've got to consider just not using it anymore. Buying,
anything good is also listed on EBAY, so why bother.
Just sell or buy your stuff on the CP flea market."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
i emailed him and asked for a verification on price. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would expect $485 for a pair of rt55, even with stands. i'm sure i'll get no response.

I've bought here successfully. No luck selling. No complaints, just stating i've tried. -
I received confirmation that the $485 asking price was correct and I left it at that. Wow.

Fewer people are buying new now because they can no longer use their houses as ATM machines as was common during the run up to the housing/banking bust in 2007/2008.

No, I just want another set of speakers at or near market. The search continues... -
Up here in Maine on Clist. There is a set of dinky Klipsch speakers that have been for sale over 1.5 years. He finally dropped his price from 400 to 370.00 6 months ago. There still on there a year & half later. Id get tired of re-posting the ad vs dropping price & selling it. Being rid of item..
