EXP-1

Would anyone like to chime in on what cables would be a better fit for my front stage. I've had zero experience with Mit cables but wanted to try them out.
Thanks

Won't recommend anything, but will say I have 3 10 foot EXP-2 speaker cables I am selling on the forum for 110.
So if you want to try MIT this is a cheap way to get into em."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Enders has a good deal here, I also had exps running through an anthem D2 and anthem amp hooked up to a full ML system and they are great

Looking at your list of gear I'm going to suggest Shotgun S3.3's as being a good quality level match. Of course, they would be a lot more money than Dan's offer.Political Correctness'.........defined

What do you guys think about Douglas's Speaker cables?

I have a complete MIT CVT-2 HT/2CH and am extremely pleased with the results. Obviously for two channel but when I replaced the Center channel cable it was a night and day difference. The voices/sound were much more realistic and fuller.
Good luck. -
I ended up buying all three of them: Term 2, MH-750 and the exp1. I'll let you guys know which one I like the best in a few weeksTV:Sony Bravia XBR4 52'

EXP-1 - Right now I have them hooked up to my 705's- There a little step up from what I did have, There just ok
MH-750- Im using the music hose for my center and all I can say is WOW...It really brought out the detail in my HT.
(I do have a question about the 750's-Has anybody taken off the original banana's and put new spades or banana's on them? They don't fit really well on my amp or speakers.)

I take it you bought the original MH 750's without the network boxes. If so, the bananas are soldered on, so you can remove them and replace with whatever you like. What about the original bananas doesn't fit well?Political Correctness'.........defined

Make sure you don't take out a binding post trying to fit one of them banana's in, I heard it happened this one time to this guy who looks great in skinny jeans

If you email MIT customer service, they may have a suggestion to keep the spades in the MIT family.

Ah, spades....
There's a few things you can do besides what you've already done. You can use a Dremel to enlarge the inside spade area. You can buy larger spades and solder them in place of the current ones. You can convert to the MIT ICONN connectors.Political Correctness'.........defined

I recommend converting to the MIT ICONN connectors. This way, you can convert between bannanas, spades or pins at your choosing.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

I recommend straight spades.
There may be some arguments against this, but I like the Furutech spades really, really well, along with the Cardas, and XLO spades.
They are just freakin hard to beat!
Not saying the MIT spades are no good, as I cannot comment.
I can say however, the 3 mentioned has tickled my "innards" in past.
Why use the extra ICONN connection?
The best combo might be straight spades (no ICONN) on the amp, and Z plugs on the speakers.
Less mass connection on the speakers may be a good idea IMHO.
The Dremel idea mentioned above seems reasonable to me, and a cheap alternative.Testing

I recommend ICONN connectors pep because in the futire, the OP might want to change the connection type and ICONNs make this easy. Of course, if the OP is absolutely sure that spades are the final connection then your suggestion is a good one of course. If the OP might change the connection type in the future, then ICONNs cannot be beat, IMO.

I know what you are saying Greg.
I agree with that.
In fact the OP contacted me earlier today.
I agree it is convenient, but there is an added connection there.
Not sure it would be a huge difference with the extra connection, if any at all.
I have never added an extra connection to the speaker cables I have made in the past, so I really can't comment on that.
But I have heard them "straight" soldered to excellent connectors, without the Iconn's and I cannot say adding an extra connection would benefit the SQ.
I will say, there are certain combinations that work really well (synergy), and a spade on the amp, with a low mass nanner on the speaker, is a VERY good combo.
And really hard to beat IMHO.
Thats all I was saying.Testing

I think only of the connection change possibility in cables when I purchase them as a resale issue and benefit. I have never, EVER, heard a sonic change in connection method in regards to spades vs bananas....for example. I've owned dozens of MIT and while the ICONN is convenient, hardly liked the way it's designed. That being said it's a non issue since if it is firmly connected, its connected.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers?
