For sale is a Pioneer Spec-1 Preamp in good working and cosmetic shape, the only issue I know of is the little orange power bulb is burned out and needs replaced which is common on these, I have owned several of these over the years and have never had one with a working power bulb
These seem to sell recently for anywhere from $500.00 to $1000.00 on Ebay depending on condition with the average price most likely around $700.00
Anyways $400.00 + shipping. You will never see one this nice this cheap .
My area code is 99707 for those wanting to guesstimate a shipping cost figure a box 25 X X 13 X 25 weighing 32 lbs or so to your zip code. USPS Parcel select or Priority mail your choice if choosing parcel select it can take 3 weeks to arrive from my location.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

I bought a Spec 2 amp new, and I really liked it, kicked myself continually since I sold it. Never had the preamp as I had an SAE preamp at the time but these Spec preamps were known to be top-notch. GLWS.

Come fall/winter it will sell for double the asking price on Ebay so it wont hurt my feelings much if it doesnt sell here

Technical info for those that need to know
Circuit-wise, the SPEC-1 is an all-Class A SEPP design : phono, flat amp, tone controls and output, three stages every time.
The flat amp has a PNP differential amplifier with 3-stage DC class-A SEPP circuit, with a ±48V split power supply and 100% DC negative feedback in the first-stage for DC stability.
Other ±48V supplies feed input and output buffers to raise input and lower output impedances.
The all-important phono stage is also fed by two ±48V supplies to ensure a high overload level of 500mV at 1Khz.
The phono 2 input has a distinct smaller 4-gang input level to adjust its sensitivity between 2,5mV and 10mV (or 0dB to -12dB) ; its level up to -6dB is adjusted by and NFb loop and by the output attenuator until -12dB.
The volume attenuator is a 4x 50kOhm / 22-steps 4-gang ALPS (as usual) with an added three-position muting switch for 0dB, -15dB and -30dB input levels.
A relay mutes the output when the SPEC-1 is switched on or off.
Tone controls are of the NF type, allowing between their MAIN and SUB section 5929 tone altering possibilities.
Inside are all low-noise PNP/NPN transistors, micron-tolerance circuits and resistorsWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last.
