A cheap tweak from Tom Tutay

Hello,
As many of you are aware Tom Tutay is a highly respected builder of vacuum tube line stages, phono stages, crossovers and power amps that rival anything on the market regardless of price. He's also a collector of cheap audiophile tweaks that make improvements in sound without spending too much money. He told me about the Bench Cookie from Rockler, a company that makes woodworking products. The Bench Cookie is normally used to hold wood objects securely on a workbench by supporting them with three or four wood discs that have a gripping surface on both sides. They also have some accessories that provide a tapered point for reducing the contact area. They could be used as a support for any component and the hole in the center lets them be used as a record clamp where a not too heavy disc is needed.
If these were made for audiophiles they would be "kiln dried" "quantum aligned" "cryogenically treated" made from "Russian north facing Birch" and sell for $500.00 for four. Try them and see what you think:

Enjoy, Ken

You know...I have used bench cookies for years when doing odd shaped furniture builds and never even considered them for audio use...but now, looking at them again, I can see their benefits..."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."
"Unwad those panties and have a good time man. We're all here to help each other, no matter how it might appear." DSkip -
Great Idea Ken, unfortunately for me they wouldn't work. Grandkids would see the word cookie and be drawn to my electronics, I big no-no in my house.:biggrin:HT SYSTEM-

Never heard of them before, but I like them. Not for audio but for the shop, I have to order some. Thanks Ken.

Great idea. Looks like they would work quite nicely too. Anything to make things working on gear & other uses is very helpful. Probably save on sliding mishaps & damages. Thanks Ken..

I'm glad that was of interest, it looked like a good idea. Sorry about the "cookie" on the side, maybe electrician's tape on the sides?
