CJ, first on terminology, the component video connection uses three 75 ohm coaxial cables which can be termed "digital" although they can of course carry analog signals equally well. If what you mean by "digital coaxial" is actually the composite video connection which uses a single 75 ohm coaxial cable(usually with yellow connectors), then as long as the TV has inputs for the three component cables, it provides a better picture than the composite connection.

I think his question is in regards to digital audio (5.1) and whether to use a digital coax cable or use a regular composite video cable for his audio connection.

Component is said to be better than S-Video and Composite. Composite video and Digital Coaxial are the same thing, they are both 75ohm cables. I use Digital Coaxial for all my Composite Video needs, as well as for DTS translation at the DVD.

I use S-Video for my DVD and it looks great, the Component video I used to utilize was a little short after a gear shuffle. I really did not notice a difference, and I watch alot of movies.
