Well boys and girls here they are.The search I think is over I scored a fairly pristine pair of SDA 2 w/blade/blade IC cable. All drivers seem to be working but I did notice that the throw on the mids is long and want to know if that is correct.Price you ask $50 + $ w/ a little dolly these are very heavy for 1 dude to move.Fronts grills a 9 just for age no cat scratch fever or discoloring, the sides on the left are pulling away so a 6-7 for those. It's a shame that it's still to early here to open them up so I really can't tell any difference yet.Tweeters to me are as you will see are 1 in each and I'll call them silver dome and you guys can correct me and advise me for care and feeding of my new friends.$250 for CRS ha $50 for these big boys has got to be the bargin of the century except for a handme down. This was the scenario I always wanted and needed a person moving, husband passed the wife this stuff is all a bad memory and I offered and she didn't hesitate and I jumped.Oh yeah they are in the promo spot that the DCM 350s were in so they better be my go tos now....

I know it doesn't count till you see them. First plush though now that I know my neighbor has gone the Adcom 555/ SDA 2 combo is a winner. It seems these must be be very effcient because I'm only at 9 oclock pos on the pre and they are way louder than any other speaker at this vol level. All drivers work and all surrounds are in great shape ,just a mild dusting and the obligatory water stain from plants on one of the tops . No complaints at all so far. If someone could help me load these pix through anyway you want that will be great. They are already in my computer and I did reg e-mail a friend w/ the browse feature. I can't dump the old pix and load these to the attachments

Those are the ones I have. Both sides warped, came unglued, and the cloth came off. Not sure if Polk was building in China then, or here. I am debating whether to give them away, or keep as a rebuild project when I retire. I was thinking of putting wood sides in place of the cloth sides, and doing a rosewood stain.

Enjoy. They do give a wide soundstage if your room allows them to be far from any side wall.

Hey thanks guys. I'm so nutty that I already heavily sanded the tops and darkened them up w/ some Howards restore walnut. I know they are oak but it did darken them up a bit and the water stain is very deep so that's still there. I tried ever source I have LPs, I-pod, CDs and even ran them through my tv. Fantastic.I also fixed that 1 pulled side panel fabric w/ a stiff putty knife so that's done. Soundstage even wider and clearer than the DCM 350s and ther absolutely no comparison on how more of a bottom these have to anything else I ever had.I still would like to know why if all the speakers look in the same position then why should the left and right deal matter. Of course they are planted the way they should be and didn't even try them w/o the ic cord.

Crap I knew I had another question. I tried to look these up at the vintage site and all that came up were SDA-2.They look the same but the description is totally different.I tried to call but not happening on the weekend so if you dudes can answer those 2 questions I think that will be it for me.I think we all had enough of me including me already but as giddy as a 14 getting to 2nd base...

Thanks for the link ,but now I'm even more confused .Clearly in the pix I sent is just says SDA-2 .Not 2b no decimal points nothing. The link claims the SDA 2 as coming out in 1983 as a 2nd gen speaker w/ both the sl/2000 tweets and blade / blade. Again both the the vintage Polk site and this say it's a SDA-2B at 1987 w/ real wood which mine is and not the studio model.Leaving off the B deal or no big deal. The few years seem not to matter but it would be nice to exactly what I have after all this.

Now I'm curious. Did early 2B's come with blade/blade interconnects?

Congrats LW on a nice pick up. Now give those puppies some room to breath. They will definitely put you in the realm of good sound. Now that you've rolled a few speakers, maybe now you can understand the differences we were trying to tell you about back when you had the Infinities. Audio is a not just about what we like but a learning process too for the ears and the brain. Kinda fun too until that process far exceeds your wallet.

Thanks Tony,I'm up early also and yes that was a very, very long time ago and because lack of means I jumped to soon at just some minor things. Anyone not in the know who sees my gear thinks it's thousands of $ worth but fact is that besides my H/T which was new 5 years ago everything else was got from either yard/garage sales or Good Wil or thrifts which I always thought was relagated for the bag lady type and boy was I wrong.Monday I'm calling PCS to see if these are just 2s or 2bs which I do think they according to former posts.I think my dream of scoring Ohm/Walsh or Vandersteens is over I need nothing else except I still what those big blue meters of a Mac 2200 or so ,but I really do not need it.Infinitys never sold and in the closet now and will relist to dump ,the Bose 601s I redid after posting pix went fairly fast and I made $ on the deal. Thanks again......Lew

They are, without any doubt, early blade/blade 2B's, so don't bother Polk.

You'll have to find a pair for free to lower the bar. I bought a receiver at an upscale neighborhood yard sale a few years back and was at the car with it. The guy comes down and asks if I want a pair of speakers too. There's nothing in the garage but a big pile of something in the middle covered by a tarp or something. It was a $10 pile of SDA-2B w/cable.

Have fun with the great find, they're sweet.

    Wow what a deal!
Those side panels come off (slowly) with a 4" wide blade putty knife.
I just used wood glue on mine for the loose fabric and the panels then put
heavy books on it overnight, cheap wood clamps at Harbor Freight, back then I did'nt have.
Water stain came out, had to sand the top
then used Minwax Tung Oil, Mahogany stain and 3 coats of Johnson Paste Wax.
