You know the ones…you’ve been looking at buying a new AVR and your search takes you to places like Amazon. You don’t buy for whatever reason, perhaps the price isn’t right or you haven’t finished your research yet. Next thing you know, you’re reading your local newspaper online, and there’s your AVR in the ad space on the side of the page! Damn, I had just put it out of my mind! I bought a windshield wiper arm puller locally last month, but had looked it up on Amazon. Now because I didn’t make the purchase there I still see it pop up once or twice a week which is annoying. So far the worst one has been this guitar I’ve been looking at from Long & McQuade, a chain of musical instrument stores up here. I had FINALLY convinced myself I didn’t need it and wham, there it is again sitting in a box beside my daily online weather report. Cursed I am. Being weak willed doesn’t help the situation. Assume I could get rid of them, something to do with cookies or some such nonsense I suspect, but I’m computer illiterate, so the torture continues. Anyone else been lured by these teasers??

I find them highly intrusive. I also wish they knew when I've already made the purchase... Stop showing me ads for the purchase I made two weeks ago! Lately, I've taken to using incognito or private browsing modes while doing my initial research. Works great.

For searches you can try this ....... https://startpage.com/

There is also proxy surfing, from the results page, which will really help eliminate the adds.
