Just got done watching Gas Land Part II on HBO. It is an HBO Documentary about the natural gas industry and fracking. It was pretty good and would recommend it.

I watched the first one. Pretty good documentary, but then found out that the families featured in it had problems before the driling started. Pretty misleading if you ask me but interesting nonetheless.

Just got done watching hot coffee last night. Pretty riveting documentary on the mcdonalds coffee case and how it was used to shape the civil court system. So much misinformation about this case.

Much of this one as well as part one has staged,misleading,or plain false info being stated as fact.This guy Wolf who made them has his "issues with the facts"
I don't care which side of fracking you fall on but watch this and also watch Fracknation to get the story from both sides if you are interested.

Yep. Perfect example of "massaging" the so called facts to present a one sided view. They are drilling all over the place around here. About all I have heard is the workers being litter bugs and tend to party a bit too much and the trucks tearing up the roads while they install the sites(roads are usually repaired when the work is done). For the amount of fracking going on there has been minimal damage done...but is has occurred just not tot he extent the anti-frackers would have you believe.

In all fairness, doesn't both sides do the same thing ? Doesn't that also apply to every other agenda that needs to be sold to the masses ? No longer is honesty the best policy. Not necessarily a fault of policy itself, but mankind. If you sit back and look around you may notice the downfall of man's moral characteristics and how far reaching that has become in everything.

I'm neither for or against Fracking. It's really just an industry built around policy changes and energy needs. You could probably get rid of the whole thing tomorrow if you opened up direct drilling in more abundant area's and changed some policy. Like that will ever happen.

The industry needs to watched closely. The CR*p they have done in the past in North Texas
is unbelievable. Mineral rights are normally sold independently from the land.
They have sued my town multiple times over zoning. Gas drilling next to the grade school?
What a fine idea. Drill sites NEVER have accidents. They want all zoning restrictions removed
so they can drill anywhere they want. Schools, shopping centers, housing areas. you name it.
Let's not even talk about them trying to claim eminent domain on a town fire station parking lot!

I hear ya bro, and agree. Common sense really. Drill next to a school ? Just asking for trouble imho. Unfortunately the allure of the almighty dollar trumps common sense every time.

Best of all is a few years ago the Madoff son and daughter got into
gas field investing using dad's stolen cash. There was a whole newspaper
series tracking that one down. The whole industry down here smells of
another big scam about to go down. Energy is the next big crash, right
along with banking round II.

That is another good one. I like one of the last interviews they did. It featured a guy who voted for TORT reform then later on had a cap placed on a judgement he received. He thought it just protected against frivolous law suits.


Yea I realize that the documentary is not going to show the pro fracking side.

HBO has some good entertainment. Their documentaries are biased political views. Not meant to be factual or even accurate. They should stick to the Sapranos or Deadwood.

It's pretty hard these days to get an honest un-biased reporting....of anything. Used to be you could just turn on the 5 o'clock news and get good honest reporting. Not anymore, every channel now has a tilt to it. You have to be your own detective and dig for the truth now. However nobody has that time so we live in a cycle of biased sound bites regurgitated at every party, town hall meeting, and internet forum.

That's how you dumb people down. Don't know about the rest of you, but I constantly find myself fighting stupidity when dragged into discussions at parties about this stuff. I just don't know when it happened, what occurred, to make grown adults take sound bites and talking points as the gospel truth....regardless of what side of the isle they originate from.

Our problem solving ability seems to have fallen in the toilet. Instead we treat symptoms instead of getting rid of the disease. Common sense will soon become a historical relic designated to some wiki- definition of a long lost characteristic of man.

Documentaries are designed to promote a point of view. But sadly since Michael Moore any sense of "fairness/balance" has gone out the window when it comes to current events in the USA.

Both Gas Lands are propaganda to lead you in their direction. I suggest watching Frac Nation.
