Dared SL 2000A remote issues

I need help in either trouble shooting or being able to get a replacement remote. The issue is it will allow me to up the volume but not go down. Plus it's switched. Volume up is actually volume down.

So, I call Dared USA. I get a guy who answers "hello". I think I knew I was screwed at that moment. I said is this Dared USA? His response, Um, yeah. I ask him about getting a replacement remote for the Dared SL2000A and it's dead silence for like 10 seconds. He says that they don't have any and seemed like he was unhappy that I had the balls to even ask him for one. Then he starts rambling that 99% of the time you just need to pull the volume knob out a quarter of an inch. The attenuator may be a little stuck and this will do the trick. When I mentioned the fact that it goes UP just fine and that up is down on the remote he still stuck to his story. Did I mention he has a heavy accent and you can barely understand him?

It worked, he got me off the phone. Then again I was at work and didn't have the time to argue. For the giggles I tried it when I got home. Um, yeah right. So, what to do? I don't want to send it back to Darren but I want a working remote. A2(ALL212) opened it up but didn't see any issues that jumped out at him.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Prayers?

Is your remote the wooden bar or the small key fob type. When I received my 2000a new it had the wooden bar remote. It also only moved the volume one direction. Mi opened it up and discovered the small plastic button that contacted the actual board for the remote was cracked and splitting instead of applying pressure to the contact. Also I believe in the wooden bar you could easily rotate the small square board 180 degrees changing the up and down contacts positions which it was apart to be looked at one could have replaced it I the wrong orientation leading to your up and down being backwards situation. Just some thoughts. You may want to try taking it apart to expose the board and trying applying pressure on the actual board contacts to see if the remote actually works and you just have physical case/button issues.

It's a fob. And we did try applying pressure to the contacts. Didn't work. Also, I'm going to try a new battery tomorrow but I'm not hopeful that it would be a resolution.

The other idea is trying a universal remote. I use a Logitec Harmony 1100 and was quite surprised that my Shanling SP80 amps were already in the Logitec database and were directly downloaded into the remote. It is my understanding that Dared and Shanling share the same complex in China. I will hook up my remote to the computer and search to find any Dared equipment code download availability.

The Dared SL-2000A is in the Logitech Harmony Database. This might actually be a better option since you can actually slow down the rate the volume changes. I always thought the Dared remote was a little corse in its adjustment of the volume. So there are some options.

Just read the audio karma thread. Not Good. I am not sure about the fact that Logitech does list it so it still might be worth a try if you have one or know someone who does.

Dave, did you contact Joe Zhou? Or call Deltronics the authorized service center?

Brock - I'm calling Deltronics tomorrow. I know they're the Authorized repair shop around here. Do you have a number for Joe?

Update - Called Deltronics, they don't touch remotes. As I was talking to him he asked if I had talked to Joe. He gave me the number and guess who I talked to yesterday morning? Joe. I called him back today and he seemed a little more willing to help but still wanted me to replace the battery. 99% of the time it works. Nope.

I'm calling him back tomorrow. We'll see.
