You never really see these on the used market. Parts Connexion carries them."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

It appears Parts Connexion is sold out, sorry: http://www.partsconnexion.com/tube_nos_6h30.html"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Thanks for the info. Zingo, looks like upscale audio's price is out of this world, though, so will look into equivalents perhaps. Thanks again, fellas.

That may be a high price, but remember that it is a rare NOS tube, and you are buying from a reputable shop, and not an overseas ebay seller.
What tube are you currently running in your buffer? I've rolled a few in mine including the 6H30P-DR, and may have another suggestion. -
I just got it recently and it has the stock JJ 6H30 tube that came with it, which is why I want to upgrade. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As I'm sure you know, any 6JD8 variant will also work well, but I am currently using a 1964 RCA 6CG7. I prefer long plate tubes if possible, and have always enjoyed the 6CG7/6FG7 tube as it is the 9 pin version of the 6SN7. To me it has a warmer, a little softer sound than my 6H30P-DR, but also has a little more sibilance and a little less detail. I'm really enjoying it with my horns and SS amp right now as it seems to take the edge off, where the 6H30P-DR was all detail. I do swap the tubes occasionally; it depends on my mood and what I'm listening to.
Any improvements in particular you would like to hear? -
As far as improvements in particular, I'm having a bit of a problem with sibilance but wasn't sure if it was the JJ tube, although I sense that may be it. What about a 6922? Would that take care of the sibilance and be a good choice? Maybe a NOS Siemens?

Thanks guys. Starkiller, I'll send you a PM, but I only need one.

Just received a 6922 Siemens wide getter support post (1961) from Brent Jesse. What a diff right out of the box. Improved the top end tremendously, and I mean tremendously, from that stock JJ tube that came with the preamp. Bass too. Really enjoying the sound, can't wait until it breaks in. Wonder why something like this tube didn't come with the unit? I'm new to tubes but I'm sure I will want to enjoy a roll or two. Thanks for all the advice, fellas.

Very nice tube! Keep in mind that the stock 6H30 tube that Gary supplies is not NOS, and cost much less than your new tube. He will include an NOS 6H30P-DR if you want like I got, but you'll pay market value for it.
I'ce also been wanting to try the 6N6P in my buffer as it's the tube that came before the 6H30.
